LOL Yeah this stuff just has a way of getting under fan's skins... it's so easy to do it because fans will always secretly hope it is true, even if unconsciously.

After reading the posts here I checked out the myspace pages for Hans -- I found two, just like you said. One is private and when I tried to befriend it they denied me. I don't know why. I'm a nice person! The other site is public and states clearly in the blog that it is not Hans just a page for people who like him. I don't find anything wrong with that, personally, because they aren't being malicious or dangerous to Hans or anyone else. I joined! I think it's kind of fun. It looks good to have his face on my page too. But I really don't think there is anything evil or malicious going on over there, as some people seemed concerned about. It's just like here, a fun place to learn about a favoured actor and see photos of him.

Don't pay any attention to me Ginger -- I get passionate -- it's an ethnic thing. You're probably right about them being safe -- particularly the public page which says somewhere that they aren't actuallly the man himself. It's the theoreticals that get me all flustered, particularly when someone on here starts sounding hurt or confused...
That's weird -- not allowing you in as a "friend" -- I thought Popularity was the point!

I tried it to,to sign in and ask "Hans"to be my "friend".I was rejected too.I wonder why...I didn´t put nothing Hans related interests in my profile...maybe that is what this profile demands from "Friend".Anyway let´s forget this whole Myspace?!It´s a place where hardly nobody is who they claims to be...It´s really better to write him to his fan address,it´s the safest way to comment or just say hello...

That's weird! You guys do know it takes a few days to be accepted as a friend, right, since whoever owns that profile isn't online every day!

I also think it's rather curious that the friends he has on myspace that post comments on his myspace page seem to be a 'group' of friends, since they're also all over eachother's profiles - and most of them are sci-fi fans, two of them being Scottish and some even live in America... it just doesn't seem credible at all. It's almost as if someone created a series of profiles so they could 'scratch their own ass'.

Okay, so I've been observing and semi-testing the MySpace circus going on there for a while.
The first thing that I completely don't understand is that Hans, indeed, doesn't nearly accept everyone who applies as a friend. But his picks seem rather random. Some friends claim to be actual friends, but some are fans as well. I've tried to add him as a friend with a different (false but credible) profile that fits the type of people he has accepted, but he didn't accept me with that profile, either. Which is rather odd if you ask me. Since the fake profile I tried applying with is supposed to be the profile of a 26 year old Scottish girl who works as a model in London, and accepting HER as a friend would make much more sense than accepting MY actual profile (19 year old Dutch girl with no link to him or his life whatsoever). I have no idea why he has accepted my profile (and reaccepted it again).
I'm also starting to understand the structure of the comments on his page and the comments he leaves on some of his friends' pages; they seem to be a group of friends, some scottishborn, some english. Their comments imply they meet regularly. 'His girlfriend' (who supposedly also makes his profile) has her own profile as well; her name is supposed to be Elizabeth (I'm ashamed of my name now). This is where it gets rather peculiar; reading from their comments, 'so called Hans' and 'so called Elizabeth' are apart at the moment ('so called Hans' posting all kinds of sappy "I miss you/I love you/I'm coming to you" comments on her profile), but in the meantime Hans' profile has changed. Which would mean Hans did that himself. Yet the same profile claims that his girlfriend manages the profile and he just logs on every now and then. So that's where something seems to not be right at all.
Above all there's the fact that Hans doesn't have TV or a cellphone - what makes MySpace so different from those two things?
In other words; it's a fishy profile, it keeps working on my emotions every now and then, but it's just extremely fishy.

They are willing to take action against the fake profile. So that's good news

It's a fansite - there's nothing there that's not readily available elsewhere on the internet; ie at Hans Matheson Online or Youtube etc. (Well,as far as I can tell, as I'm not a member) There used to be a disclaimer somewhere saying that this was not really Hans, but I can't see it now. If this was his personal site, don't you think it'd be a little more - er - personal?
