Watch Anna Friel in Timeline last night. Interesting movie. Science Fiction meets History. She plays Lady Claire who lives in the 14th century during the war between France and Britain. She gets to kiss Gerard Butler...wouldn't have minded that job!

anyone read the novel that has been made into the film "Never Let Me Go" -- with Keira Knightley?

But of course * Interesting concept but the 'mood' of the book will be tricky to translate into film I think. I gather the don't go for a literal "narrative+pictures" approach but put the emphasis on the love story. Reviews (of the film) are mixed. I might read it again to refresh my memory before I watch it - it'll be a while before it's her I think. * Got myself a never-been read second-hand copy at Barter Books in Alnwick in 2009. Awesome shop.

It's here now and I haven't read it, but maybe I'll enjoy the film more if I don't... I got the now famous "keep calm, carry on" poster from Barter Books last year as well... had to order mine though... you certainly do make the most when you travel!

I have the Keep Calm and Carry On in mug form - much more functional.
I wouldn't read the book first. Never a good idea and particularly not for a story like this.
Also coming up is "Last Night" with Keira Knightley AND Sam Worthington as her husband. HHmm Interesting matching, not one Id have thought would be convincing.
I think it was filmed before COTT - wonder if Sam and Hans shared KK stories. I saw an intervieww with Sam at TIFF and interestingly, he was quite chatty about other cast member Eva Mendes but had little to say about KK. "She's the consumate professional..awkward silence" Odd.

Saw Billy Connolly last night in a documentary called Journey to the Edge of the World. He is traveling to towns along the coasts of Canada where European Immigrants first settled. He just did the East Coast (Halifax, New Brunswick, Acadia, and up into Newfoundland). These areas have a huge population of Scottish immigrants and BC had said that he felt right at home. He's very funny in it - that Scottish sense of humour! It is absolutely fascinating and the landscape shots are incredible - icebergs, old viking regions, cliff top ocean views. I'm hoping to catch the next episode - he heads up to Baffin Island and the Artic.
