Hate to say this but I was bitterly disappointed with the film. Granted Hans was the best thing about it but I was even bored when he was on screen, in my opinion he just didn't shine at all in the film, that review was quite right. I mean I was paying attention to him because he looked so gorgeous but that was the only reason. Just my opinion of course.
BUT on a happier note, the trailer for Clash of the Titans came on and that looks amazing mind you so did Sherlock Holmes. But the trailer included that clip of Hans looking startled and then getting turned to stone??

Went to the earliest showing I could, at 11:15 this morning and was very happy to see the trailer for COTT and I'm afraid to say it looked like Hans did get turned to stone (Lets hope that scene is near the end of the film!) I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes, it was a long film and you have to wait a full hour to see Hans (Yes I was timing, I'm afraid I am that sad!) I was pleased that Hans had a large supporting role and got to work to do some good scenes with Robert Downey Jr. The film is a bit of a slow burner but I liked the plot although you could have cut it down by about half an hour and got Hans on a bit faster!

I actually enjoyed it for the most part. Having followed all the making of and discussion and the negativity on IMDb, I was pretty much prepared for anything. It turned out to be pretty much what I expected - a popcorn romp with guns and geezers loosely based on the Sherlock Holmes character.
Of course, there were too many fights and explosions for my taste and the plot and the logic thereof made no sense at the time and even less if you tried to stop and analyse it. And it certainly was overlong and could have been edited down in parts. But overall, for what it was, escapist enertainment for the masses, not bad at all. The jokes might have been funnier if I hadn't already heard them all before.
And as others mentioned, it's halfway through (I'd left my watch and phone at home; that's why I don't know for sure) till Hans shows up. I was actually surprised by how much he is in it - I thought it woul be just that scene where he and his cronies hire Holmes ( Did they? WHy? Oh I give up) And I have to say, he did look gorgeous. Then He's out of focus half the time. That's IT?
However then there's more... Do agree, it was a one-dimensional role that didn't really utilise his talents - just stand and around and look maliciously intense and handsome. But hey, it was Hans on the big screen!
And we saw the trailer to Titans - the first teaser version. The guy next to me said "That looks awesome"

An hour into the movie, that stinks, but I'm glad to hear it's a bigger part. I need to find someone to go see this with.
If Clash Of The Titans is like the old one, if I remember correctly, the stone part isn't near the end. But I hope it is in this one.

Look for a wink to Guy Ritchies pub, THE PUNCHBOWL, as well as at least two former costars.

Thanks Laura, Caz & Virgil for your thoughts on Sherlock Holmes. Haven't seen it as yet, but hopefully this weekend.

What a great find, lynette! I will have to wait another 4 weeks until I get to see this. (Maybe I will see Bathory in our cinemas before Sherlock Holmes. It's being released on Jan 1st, 2010, but for now I couldn't find a cinema, which has it in its program) Re Premiere footage: I hate to think, Hans got so ignored by the press and paparazzi. Maybe he couldn't attend?

And thanks for the pictures, Brooke!

Once again, top job Lynette and Brooke. Your combined skills make my job so easy!
My secret spies tell me Hans was indeed at the prmiere but was successful in his endeavours to keep a low profile and avoid the photographers and the whole red carpet charade. (How, not sure) He was, however, introduced on stage along with the rest of the cast - hence my source.

Sherlock Holmes arrives to Hungarian cinemas on 7th January! And - really unbelievable!!!- soon after it, Bathory hits the big screen on 20th January. Well, after the first early news about Bathory I was sure to be the lucky first one among us to see this production, and maybe I'm the last one to watch... Patience is my best honour! Two premiers in a row with Hans! WOW!
