Just flipped on the CBC television station and he has died. I was a little shocked. Farah Fawcett also died today. I read a report on the death FF last night. Unbelievable ..

Is it true, Cat. I read this report this morning, I was shocked. He had a tour from July. He died of heart failure. Yeah, I heard that he a major tour planned. He was scheduled to play a lot of dates at the O2 arena in London from next month, going right through to March 2010.

I was watching Jian Ghomeshi talk last night on the news. (He is a well respected Canadian music critic...probably best know for his failed interview with Billie Bob Thorton). Anyway...He was talking about the concerts and apparently MJ had 50 sold out shows scheduled for London.

Thats alot of shows. The people behind these shows are still deciding what to do regarding them. Personally, I think the promoters should allow the shows to go ahead but to use all previous footage of MJ's past world tours, and also to show all of his music videos, so that it becomes a kind of tribute concert to MJ.

I can't believe he's dead, it's so weird to look at the tv and watch the old videos and see what he was and watch how over the years he started looking so sick. It's really odd to see...and honestly I can't imagine living with the stigma of 'he's made of plastic, he's had so many surgeries, he's sick, twisted....' and it's funny because what actually caused him to go white wasn't surgeries and all of that, he had Lupis and some kind of rare, skin de-pigmentizing disease that was causing him to slowly change color. His body was killing itself and he still managed to do everything that he did. I loved Michael Jackson, as strange as he got later on in his life but he was still really an amazing man.
Looking at all those we've lost in the recent years, it just makes me worry about who's next. Steve Irwin was the one that got me...and then George Carlin, now Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson...what's left? I honestly expected Patrick Swayze before Michael though, it's a sad day in the entertainment world, he started so much.
When you really look at it, he wasn't just pop he was also rock and it's sad now because people see (and what we're shown) is a black man, he's automatically a rap musician. And what's worse is there aren't many (name me 3) african american male musicians that are in rock music. It's like....here's Michael...oh....well...no more. It's a sad sign of the times when we expect them to be rap and anything else will probably be condemned.

Many famous and talented people have died. Michael Jackson was the concept in the world. I think we have never, that he would die so soon. In the Czech Republic mourn for him a few thousand fans. I saw a television report tonight, it was very touching and sad. Patrick Swayze is my favorite actor from my nine years. He is a very talented dancer and actor, to me is very sad, that is very sick. I admire his bravery. He fights like a lion.

It is shocking when someone so young and so a part of the collective conscious dies suddenly. I worry for the kids. talk about immortality though -- the music will be around generations.
I don't know how much press it got outside of the US but Farrah Fawcett was really open about her battle against cancer. I thought it was courageous, and beautiful that she was willing to share her experience and kind of diffuse all the tabloid fodder they were making of her.
It has been a year of loss, with many cautionary tales, from the price of fame, to inadvertant prescription medication misuse.
I'm hoping Patrick Swayze will pull through though. My Uncle just survived pancreatic cancer, and he has nothing like Patrick's fitness. Did you know Patrick's younger brother was also a dancer? A friend of mine was on "George and the Dragon" with Partick Swayze and she was enthralled with him. Said he was very sweet and kind. I'm hoping he can recover yet.
I was even a bit stunned to realize that Michael Jackson was 50! We don't age like our parents do, do we? We seem to expect agelessness (by any means). It seems crazy that he was out-lived by Elizabeth Taylor.

I was unaware that the brother of PS is also a dancer, surprising news for me.

Jessy,
Sorry to hear about your budgie. It is a weird feeling when they are no longer around. My house felt very empty for months when my previous cat died.
