I'm really not strong in czech, but you are unfortunately right. We have to wait unil july, even more - it will be realesed in Hungary and Great Britain after the festival. Somehow it is in connection with Jakubisko's birthday - he will be 70 on 30th April. Maybe the premier would be the best celebration. It's an offence, that I can't discover Hans' name in the text. All the same - I shouldn't even understand...I look around in Hungarian sites.

I'll just be happy if it gets theatrical release in the US -- if they thought it would be a holiday blockbuster "they" (the business men in the process) would release then and make blockbuster money... It has nothing to do with when the film gets out of post-production, unfortunately -- it's about selling the film. They'll release it when they think they can make money. It was the most expensive film made in the countries history ... they do have to try to make that money back.
If only we could convince them that they could make money immediately.
Karlovy Vary is lovely though... and not far from where some scenes from "Canone Inverso" was filmed

Yes, they have to make profit, it's understandable. If it is not a success, it could be bad for Jakubisko's career, considering the money it cost. But it's not as if they had told us we'll have to wait one or two months more. And there will not be a French version of the movie, I'll have to wait to buy the DVD, so... not before a whole year probably. But I hope you all will see it in theaters. I cross my fingers for you.

IMDb updated Bathory's page. The release date for Czech Republic is July 4, and July 10 for Slovakia.

Oh well spotted, Marycathy. But I see it's still 6th March in Hungary. Good news for Zita.
Wasn't Half Light also released first in Hungary?

Yes, Zita is a lucky girl! You're right Virgil. Half Light was released quite early in Hungary. Right after the USA and before all the other countries.

...that's not Hans. It's two gentlemen I don't recognise, but neither one of them are Hans. He's not in any of those pictures, sadly.

Wow! The Czech entertainment press keeps getting all the details wrong. Not to mention all the erroneous rumors Lynette has brought to our attention!!

I think one of them is the young guy who played one of the monk characters that brought the film criticism because the devise didn't work as comic relief and was just incongruous to the epic feel of the film. Wish I could say I had seen it myself to say I agreed or not but for now I had to read that bit in Variety.

I do not know him .. Right is actor Jiøí Mádl, he plays a character in the film the young monk. Hans has never been to the premiere, when featured movie Bathory.
