I have just received a copy of Comfortably Numb from hugodanner2002@yahoo.com. After my first e-mail I received the copy two days later. Great service and communication.
The DVD is great quality!! Let me tell you I loved Hans in it, and it is so worth getting just to see this performance. Thanks Richard!!

I still really love Comfortably Numb. I think it's probably my favourite of Hans :-) it feels the most bare and raw.

Well, after finally getting to watch Comfortably Numb, thanks to Gg. I can see why everyone likes it. It's very difficult to watch for a number of reasons, which just makes it feel all that more real and raw. Hans was incredible as always, he really played Jake with respect I felt, it would have been so easy for it to be a mickey take but it wasn't. The ending still makes me smile, I just love that scene when you see Jake sitting there 'ready to make some changes'. Definitely one of my favourite Hans projects.

I had to look up mickey take in the dictionary, never came across this expression before. The things I learn in this forum... Laura, I can only agree with your summary. Even if one doesn't approve of Jake's behavior, one feels and hopes for him and this is because of how Hans plays his roles. Isn't it heartbreaking when - in his first attempt to check out - he is confronted with his failure and the only way out of this situation is his escape to the toilet? But there are also very funny moments. For instance, I love it, when they sing in the car: "we're all going on a summer holiday, no more drinkies for a week or two". Or when Jake is asked to undress, and he says, "Am I not a bit young for you?". Jake even cracks a joke when he's feeling very bad. In the scene, where he's lying on the sofa and Lara is worried about sitting in his vomit, what exactly does he say? I can't understand it. Can someone tell me? As Jake would say,

He says "I tell you, you'd be lucky".... The glory of it all is that this was an improv exercise - only 2 actors and little in the way of a script and I really loved some of Hans' choices. When he falls back on charm and arrogance in those moments it really rings true to me - that male insecurity that resorts to manufactured indifference, aggression, vanity, finally just terrified retreat. Beautiful. And then the lovely resolution, a clean white shirted, hair off his face, humble Jake who has given up performance for growth.

Sorry about that Brooke! I could have put it another way but didn't want to be disrespectful, I have to agree that I have learnt a lot from this forum!
