Did they divide it into four parts in Britain? For us it was a 2 parter in the states. You had me going there, I thought you meant that they showed his very first court appearance that the Queen alludes to when he was a child and was "so afraid that I might kiss you!"

Yes four episodes for the Brits. I guessed Ep 3 would finish with Essex making his appearance in court and Ep 4 starts with "10 Years Later".
TONIGHT!
Let's hear what you think

There's wasn't a lot of promotion for the later episodes as far as i could tell but you can always rely on a bit of parochialism Article from "Stornaway Today"Pity, then, that they got Hans' name wrong

The complete set of DVD screen captures for "The Virgin Queen" is now online at Hans Matheson OnlineThanks to Gigi who made sure that those of us stranded in the Antipodes with no hope of seeing "The Virgin Queen" in foreseeable future did not go unsatisfied.

It has Closed Captions if your TV has that option - apparently mine doesn't. There's also a video description for the visually impaired.

Just a note for those thinking of watching The Virgin Queen, Hans doesn't appear till halfway through the second episode So, next week 14th. This is an interesting article about the programme to balance all those reviews which could only compare it to the Mirren, Blanchett and jackson versions. Film History- PersonalitiesScroll down a bit

Watched this for the first time. He does like to play the disturbed child, now doesn't he?

Yeah that's what I was thinking! 'Cause everytime I watch a film with Hans in it with my mum, she goes "He's hot, who is that!?" and I have to explain to her it was actually HER renting The Mists of Avalon that got me addicted to him in the first place, 'cause that's the Mordred lad and she goes "Right!" And forgets it again the next time... BUT with the Virgin Queen suddenly out of nowhere she said (without any hints from me) "Boy, Essex really is a lot like Mordred." And I must agree... I mean sure they are different people, but the whole disturbed child thing as well as the bond with his revenge-loving mother are a lot like in the Mists!
