Oh that's right --- this film is about a girl isn't it?

It's always about the girl - Rachel, Queen Elizabeth, Dina, Morgaine, Stella , they even made Doctor Zhivago all about Lara.
One of Hans' specialities is making the girl look good. I mean that in a good way - wish I could find the article which I read about how behind every great actress there's usually a whole raft of male actors providing the solid base for them to glitter from They said it better than I did ( Obviously!)
Can't remember the last time a Slovakian film featured at my multiplex - there's a first time for everything though.

IMDB have changed the name of Hans' character to Caravaggio now. And moved his name to third in cast order behind Anna and some Czech star (it was alphabetical before)
Must say I'm curious how they plan to work him into the plot esp if it's a major role

Excelent info - thanks for sharing that. Of course Hans has filmed in Czech Republic and Slovakia before. Les Miserables, Canone Inverso, Mists of Avalon and Deathwatch were all filmed in and around Prague and of course Doctor Zhivago was filmed in Prague and on location in Slovakia. At that time, Hans said in an interview that he had spent about one year in the past five in Prague. But back on topic, it seems they are marketing "Bathory" at Cannes. German Sales Agents Make a Killing with "Bathory"
Swedish director Juraj Jakubisko's English language film "Bathory" just signed German sales agents Sola Media and Atrix Films to handle its international sales. The film, starring Tony Award winner Anna Friel, is based on the life of Elizabeth Bathory, the murderous Countess of Transylvania. A co-production between Juakubisko Film Slovakia, Film & Music Entertainment (UK), Lunar Films, Euro Films, Eurofilm Studio (Hungary) and Jakubisko Film* (Czech Republic), the sales deal was negotiated by Jakubisko Films' Deana Jakubisko and Sola Media's Solveig Langeland. [Kristina Woo/indieWIRE] from www.indiewire.com/ots/2006/05/cannes_06_marke_1.htmlWell, Swedish?/ Slovakian? It's all the same to some journalists. And it got the story more coverage in Swedish press than it would have if it had given Jakubisko's correct nationality.

The videos are of the interviews - some are in Slovak or Czech but of course the transcript underneath is in English. There is behind the scenes footage in the background but it all seems to have been shot on the same day, or same scene anyway. Needlss to say, not one involving Hans However, the shoot must be nearly finished ( I've been led to understand Hans in involved until the end of the month which is presumable part of the reason why there's no "Half Light" premiere.) If that's the case, we may see some work done soon on [url=http://www.jakubiskofilm.com/ Jakubisko's site [/url] which is at present "under construction". But if you click on the Czech site, and go to 'vice' on the top right, you get the "Bathory" page. And the drop down menus at the top give a good overview of Jakubisko's work. Fellini meets Peter Greenaway. Interesting possibilities.

Oh my! Check out the wicked grin...kind of reminds me of those dippy cast photos from Nero...this pic looks like a candid photo, not a picture from the film, you think? Makes you wonder what the dynamic will be like...
