I have not seen Deathwatch yet, and while I was on a website for James McAvoy (another actor I like), I saw that Deathwatch was listed in his filmography. He's not in the cast list on IMDb....for those of you who have seen the movie, is there a character in it named McNess?
Thanks!

That's curious! Check out www.MichaelBassett.com for full details. McNess is without a doubt a character, but played by Dean Lennox Kelly. Broging all over the place. However you spell broging. Not sure who James McAvoy could've been -- small ensemble cast, not a whole lot of "boy with dog" parts -- although I suppose he could be a "mudman". I'll check the DVD creds next time I watch.

Gg's right The character of McNess is played in the movie by Dean Pizzaboy Lennox Kelly.
When Michael first got the gig as screen writer and needed to prove he could direct it as well, he had to do a test screening.
James McAvoy apparently was McNess in that, but when it came time to shoot the film, he was unavailable.
I think you can read about it somewhere in Michael's journal

Well, I just caught "Shameless" Anyone seen it? It's been on before here but passed me by because of the late hour and I then knew nothing about it. Seems like they have gone right back to the beginning. It has not only James McAvoy in it, but also Anne Marie Duff - as his girlfriend. I believe they are a real-life couple too - and PizzaBoy Dean Lennox Kelly. Last night we saw him, DLK that is, stretched out on the bed stark bollock naked. Not a pretty sight. Man this programme is life in the raw. Very funny though

Is it a series or a movie?

It's a series originally on Channel 4 in Britain. I first heard of it seeing the promos in the ad breaks during "Comfortably Numb". It's set in a working class housing estate. Fiona (Anne Marie) is the oldest of six kids who more or less has to bring up the family after their Mum has left their down-and-out dad. They are all specialists at milking the welfare system, stealing, receiving stolen goods etc Dean Lennox Kelly is the neighbour who runs a pub It's kind of shocking but very funny. the dad is just awful :obut they love him anyway esp the little sister who idolises him

Wow A lot's changed since this thread was started only just over a year ago - Narnia, Last King of Scotland, becoming Jane - james is quite the young star oon the rise.
Another Hans connection ( the Deathwatch one is kind of a stretch) is that James is the fiance , or maybe now husband, of Anne Marie Duff who was Elizabeth in the Hans version of Virgin Queen and also in Doctor Zhivago
Another Deathwatch co-star- an actual one making a bit of a showing is Matthew Rhys who I've been watching in "Brothers and Sisters" as gay Kevin and I have to say I'd watched two episodes without realising it was him - only noticed when I read an article about him sa he has just been cast as Dylan Thomas opposite Keira Knightley and Lindsay Lohan ( say What? Yes its true) in a forthcoming movie called "Best Years of Their Lives" which was written by Keira's mother

not to mention a lil ole BAFTA 2006 (James) -- she (Anna) was in the audience (obviously, next to his empty chair as he accepted his award) and BEAMING with pride
Lindsay Lohan, Keira Knightley and Matthew Rhys -- now those are strange bedfellows!
