I agree Cat on the interaction and intimacy...although the last concert I went to was a little too intimate. It was a guitar duo at a little local performing arts centre and for some reason I bought 2nd row centre stage tickets. It was a little creepy to sit that close, especially when you can see nose hair! The music was still excellent though, but next time at least 3 rows back!

He's coming to Liverpool which I could easily get to, but the price of the tickets are really expensive and what with all the other shows I'm going to and my holiday to Scotland in October I just couldn't afford it. It'd be great if someone from here managed to see him though.

Scotland in October Laura...how exciting. I'm dying to get over that way. I've only seen photos and travel logs. It is suppose to be amazing country side and atmosphere. Enjoy planning!
What shows are you seeing?

I can't wait, I'm going to Oban and the Western Highlands.
I'm going to a dance weekend next week in Blackpool, then a play the week after then another dance show.

Jenny,
Haha....well, I guess if you can see nose hair then you really are way to close to the stage!
If it was me going to a small concert I wouldn't want to be right at the front. I'd feel almost intimidated by it. If I was going as a photographer then hell, I'd want to be on the stage with the band to ensure I got the best possible photos of the concert.
Laura, wow...you have a few busy weekends ahead of you! I hope you have a great time at all of them!

Thanks Cat. The second dance show is a bit of a pain though as my friend can't make it, so the ticket is basically on offer to all my dance fan friends. I'd want to be at the front if it were me. I went to see Riverdance with my cousin a couple of weeks ago and we were sat on the front row and the lead dancer kept looking at me, I thought I was imagining it at first. Then at the end he waved at me. We were stood at the stage door after the show and he came out and as soon as he saw me went "I saw you on the front row!" Me being me, I was like a kid who'd just got their first toy and was stupidly excited. He signed my programme as well

That's funny Laura. It is amazing your reaction when you meet someone. I just watched an interview with Atom Egoyan and he had a chance meeting with Robert Plant. He said that he babbled so much that Robert Plant just stared at him and walked away! Riverdance is worth going to though I take it? I'm getting tickets for Mother's Day! Watched a doc on BRAVO about the dancers. Their poor bodies, especially their knees! After that doc though I really wanted to go. Just my luck they are doing a Farewell Performance in TO. YEAH!!!

Were you grinning like the cheshire cat for the rest of the night?

Jenny, it's definitely worth seeing. I started watching it on video when I was 5 and have loved it ever since. This was the second time I've seen it, it's amazing live, I do feel for the dancers. I hope you have a great time when you see it!
Cat, I couldn't stop smiling! I said to my cousin on the way home 'Oh he's gorgeous' and she went 'Eww no he isn't' I was like don't spoil it for me!

Poking around on the TIFF 2009 website and noticed that it opened today with a documentary on Leonard Cohen called "I'm Your Man." There was no date given, but I think it is an older doc.

It is an older documentary and it's really interesting. Subject matter of course.
Curiously TIFF is openning NOT with a Canadian film but with a BBC film called "Creation" about the life of Darwin starring Paul Bettany and his wife, the American actress Jenifer Connolly. The line up this year looked particularly interesting.

K.D. Lang sang Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics last night. What an amazing performance. This isn't her performance from the Olympics but another live performance of it and it still gives me shivers! Enjoy!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE
