I'm not the most internet savvy person around so bear with me if this is all too obvious. I'm working here on the assumption that if I don't know, maybe there are others also.. 
I've just realised that this site will NOT let you enter a really long url by just putting it between the two url tags. This is so it doesn't push the whole page really wide and obviously you can't put a space in the url or it won't work
Two solutions;
You can go to the site www.tinyurl.com and convert it. This is also a great solution for emails.
You can post the url inside the first tag and put text between the tags
EG
[ url=www.blahblahblah.com]your text[/url]
without that first space of course
