No, not a coupling between Hughie and Tony Costello, the condom-toting organist.
Hugh Jackman has won a Tony for his performance as Peter Allen in "The Boy From Oz". Well deserved too I gather. Congratulations Hugh. It's a long way from the gig as a clown at children's parties. Peter Allen, Curlie, Wolverine What next? Hugh for James Bond anyone?

The James Bond role should go to Clive Owen as he's the only one who can pull it off.
Hugh Jackman was a Clown at kid's parties? *shudders*

Last night we went to see Hugh Jackson in "The Boy From Oz" which is touring Oz at the moment. It was fantastic, worth every cent even though we were a little oxygen deprived up there in row T!
Hugh was on stage almost the whole time, singing, dancing, shaking his very nice butt and joking with the audience, he had them all in the palm of his hand. And some lucky audience members got HIM in their hands as he danced through his way through the floor seating and jumped up on a podium in the middle of the stadium. "I've always wanted to do this," he quipped, as he did a take off of Lleyton Hewitt in the Hopman Cup.
Of course he's gorgeous and charming and has a lovely singing voice, but he's also got the moves and, OMG, his arms!!!! Best bit was when he disappeared behind a screen formed by his three lovely back up singers and reappeared wearing an Eagles jumper. The crowd just went wild!!!. For those from OS or those not into the football, yesterday our home team, the West Coast Eagles, won the Australian Rules Grand final. Football's like the major religion here and to win is a huge deal for the entire male population and many of the women (those tiny shorts they wear) So it got a huge reaction - I think he was a bit surprised quite how much!
He had a suggestion for future victories - he turned around and had ALLEN in sequins on the back. Said the opposition could cut their hands on the sequins if not dazzled by them.
All in all, great show and great atmosphere cos he trained here and we're happy to consider him a home town boy even though he was only here for three years - and no one cared at the time of course. Funny moment was; he (as Peter Allen) was saying how it used to be just Him and Olivia Newton John as Aussies who'd made it in US and then proceeded to list all the others since then - Russell, Cate, Nicole, Toni, blah blah - oh that guy with the claws Hugh Jackman (applause) and who else - oh Heath Ledger. Pause for big applause - Heath Ledger is our home town boy made good- and only a smattering of applause.. Fell really flat. Poor Heath, not well loved around here it seems.
Made me think - who else can act and sing and dance like that in Hollywood today? I saw Ewan McGregor in "Guys and DOlls" in London (skite, skite) and although he was great, I can't see him carrying a whole show like that, didn't get the impression he really had the range or power in his voice.
Hans connection? I believe Hugh Jackman is, or was, also repped by Lou Coulson. And to follow up on our previous posts, he actually did the brief bit where he was joking about the cameras for the big screens and did a little "James Bond audition" take off.
