Don't forget "The Virgin Queen" on Sunday night on PBS' "Masterpiece Theatre". Even if Essex doesn't show up till next week's episode, you'll want to be up with the story. And don't forget your humble webmistress here in the antipodes, who doesn't know when and if it will ever hit her sun-drenched shores Any reviews, captures or *ahem* other material will be gladly received. All for the site of course, and the good of Hans fans everywhere. Edit, as of December 2006 there has been no sign of it being released here, although the version with Helen Mirren was on ABC during the year, so I guess we'll never see it here. Thank goodness for DVD - and Gigi

Guys, I need help. I rented the Virgin Queen dvd under the impression I'd have a Hans-coming-out-of-a-bathtub-stark-naked for Christmas... but I don't think that scene's on this dvd! It's so frustrating!
Last night I spend an hour rewinding and forewarding the dvd to find the bathscene but couldn't find it, and so today I decided to check out the gallery to see where that scene should be chronologically... and it doesn't make sense with the dvd I have. The scene of him riding horses with the queen is also missing. Has anyone else noticed this or is this an error in this particular dvd where it just skips those scenes or something?

That's odd. In both of those scenes there's dialogue which is quite necessary to he story. Strangely both involve Francis Bacon, his so-called friend. Have they edited him out altogether?. In the bath scene Hans is sitting in the bath reading a letter from Francis Bacon whsih suggeste=s he be more cautious in bestowing favours to his friends. Just his feet sticking out of the bath. Then two maids come in and he gets out of the bath but you still don't see anything much. Which version did you rent? The BBC R2 version with the white cover? I hear places like Blockbuster are notorious for cutting bits out but not sure why they would bother. It makes you wonder why what else has been chopped out. They are in my R1 PBS version - obviously, or there would be no screen caps

Honestly I don't know exactly what version this is, but it's definately not the BBC version with the white cover! And yeah, both scenes (on the horse and in the bathtub) are completely missing The only reason why I noticed is because I saw exactly that part of the Virgin Queen on the BBC on tv a while ago. It wouldn't surprise me if they cut them out, because their version of The Mists Of Avalon is also different from the version I own. They probably have a thing for cutting into mini-series... *sigh*. But was it just my imagination that you actually see his behind? Because I was under the impression I did see it on BBC. But then again that could just be my healthy active imagination
