I recently got a DVD player, but it was before I knew about the region codes for DVDs. I would like to get a Canone Inverso DVD and have seen some for sale on ebay, but they all have region codes outside of the US where I live. They seem to mostly be from Russia. Strange...Do they like Hans there? Does anyone know how I can modify my DVD player so it's universal? It's a Toshiba SD-V394. thanks, Chimera

Firstly, the Italian version of Canone Inverso is Region 0 which means region free - should play on anything. You might be able to order a copy from this siteThen, have you tried an out of region DVD on your player? The manufacturers don't always label them as region free for legal reasons when in actual fact they could well be. The salesmen were very cagy about the issue when I bought my new DVD player recently Also you can play any region DVD on your computer if you use the media player Videolan which doesn't seem to keep track of the region like Power DVD etc do. It's free to download.

Thank you! I ordered the DVD from the Italian Website you provided the link for. At first I was translating the Italian from another website into English so I could fill out the order form, and then I noticed the small American Flag in the upper right hand corner. Thank god...But it's kind of fun to be learning about lira and euros and other odds and ends of information. I wonder why the Italian DVDs don't have region codes. Do ya know?

Oh I well remember when I ordered my copy of CI from an Italian site - it was the first time I had ever ordered anything online at all and I had no idea what I was really doing I was sure I would blow my money and was really surprised when it showed up not much more than a week later. I didn't even have a DVD player at the time and had to rush out and buy one the next day
I think most Italian DVDs probably are region 2 Maybe it's because t didn't get an international release so a region 0 coding increases the chances of finding buyers
Hope you enjoy it

Thanks Virgil for the website info. I just ordered a copy and am crossing my fingers that my dvd player will play it. I may throw my hands up and buy an all region dvd player anyway since I want to see I Am Dina. Anyway, thanks again!! Halona
