He has been a visitor on a radio station in Cornwall, though he had to cancel the last time he was scheduled to be on. If I hear of anything you know I will let everyone know! Particularly if the new songs he's written end up turning into part of the track list of a new cd.

I don't think wild horses could stop this man from songwriting. He sang two news songs he had written and I suspect there are more where that came from!!! A new Ado album would be really nice in the future. I wonder if Ado would consider releasing an album of Gaelic songs!

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting although I've been a huge admirer of both Hans' & Ado's work for many years. Lucky those who got to see The Green note show, I bet u had a wonderful evening! I've always hoped Ado would play Glasgow or Edinburgh as I would love to see him sing his songs from Out On The Islands. It's such beautiful music that I have greatly appreciated for a good while now. What were his new songs that were sung? As I only have Out on The Islands, I sadly don't know any of his other material. Are those songs Seminole Winds & Oh Marianne Ado's?

Ado only sang one or two of his new songs, and I don't think he ever actually offered a title. (Anyone else who was there remember?)! "So Long Marianne" (sorry, not "Oh", got my titles confused) 1967, Leonard Cohen, and "Seminole Wind" by John Anderson.
You've got all the material Ado has released in "Out of the Islands". It would be great if he released another cd! He did have a show back a couple years in Lewis! How amazing would it be to see an artist playing music in the location that inspired it!
It was a wondeful evening! Great music, great venue, and lovely friends new and old to share it with!
Sorry if you've checked this post I've had to start and stop and modify throughout the morning. Multitasking the mother of mischief... and misspelling.
Welcome and happy first post! Love your username!

It's such a shame that there isn't anymore of Ado's music available. I used to play the cd for quiet times in my classroom & the kids just loved it! October Winds is an old lullaby my Dad used to sing, & his father before him. Think it has been passed down through our generations, such a beautiful, haunting melody. I now sing it to my own 2 sons. My eldest is nearly 4 & loves to sing along to "Come back to the harbour" ha ha, it's so sweet! But yes, would absolutely love to see Ado live, it would be a real treat!

thanks for the link. this was posted years ago, but here is a translation
Ado Matheson - Out On The Islands
Text by Alfredo De Pietra
The man and his island? The man is his island!
Born and raised in the remotest islands of the Hebrides, he moved to the chaotic London: the poetic soul of this composer gives vent to the nostalgia and memories of a life absolutely poles apart from every point of view ...
It's true: you can remove a man from his island, but you can not remove the island by man. It is a saying that we did not know, and they agree that reviewers across the Channel before us had listened Out On The Islands , the debut album of the composer Ado Matheson.
Matheson is a native of the island of Lewis, in the archipelago of the Scottish Hebrides. There grew, there became man. His father was a singer and composer in Gaelic, discreetly also appreciated outside the island of Lewis, and his grandfather had been appointed even "Celtic Bard," by virtue of a series of compositions in Gaelic. In short, the composition and singing are in the DNA of Matheson for generations, and the son of Ado, Hans Matheson, he actively collaborated in the drafting of the songs in Out On The Islands .
Ado Matheson sang and composed music praticamemente always, even to semi-professional level, and it was he who opened the concerts often Scottish artists such as Runrig and Davey Spillane.
However, there is a chance that the Scottish singer-songwriter has taken the decision to record his debut album this at this stage of his life, characterized by the fact that it has abandoned the tranquil island of the origins and moved to the chaotic, very cosmopolitan city: " Only I recently really understood how much I love my island and its culture. It's something that at first, when you've just left the island, it is not easy to realize, after all, to get away from the fact Lewis has characterized the lives of most of those who were born there. The fact of living in a place like London has done nothing but strengthen the bond with my island, and although I have a good past the only performer, only when my son Hans took an interest in music, we began to compose the music of Out On The Islands. "
With this background, it is all too obvious to understand that the heart of Matheson's still all in his beloved Hebrides, which shines beautifully, lyrically but never in the way and ccessivamente mawkish, from all tracks that make up Out On The Islands , two of such as, "The Old Fisherman" and "Iona", you can listen to the sampler attached to this issue of "Keltika."
In fact, all the songs on the CD are a collection of dreams and thoughts of the author, inspired by the vivid images and emotions evoked by the memory of his beloved island of Lewis, and the same cover picture, full of panoramic views of the island dating back several decades ago, are very emblematic in this regard.
Matheson is the author and performer of all the songs, in addition to playing the piano and guitar, and his son Hans takes care of counterpoint and parts of violin and percussion . Complete the training the voice of Mandy Meaden, double bass and Nick Kacal (other tracks) by Nick Turner and battery Simon Lea.
It is heartfelt music, that of Out On The Islands : to listen calmly, maybe volume is not too high and by carefully reading the lyrics of these compositions inspired by the simple but eye-catching, never shout (it is not in the style of Matheson), but on the contrary placid and full of feeling. An easy prediction: we believe it is only a matter of time, but the author of this record sooner or later will come back on his island ...
sorry if the translation is a bit wonky

I have the album (got it on iTunes) and I love it. My favourite is The Old Fisherman. Both Hans and his dad have beautiful voices...
