I see Old Fisherman as a song that is about a younger generation gaining the strength to persevere in the face of adversity through the inspiration of someone who went through far more and found the strength to continue. SO I don't know if that song makes me depressed or maybe more impressed and stalwart. Song Old Fisherman I guess you got that right, Gg, I would so I understand. Hope always dies last. It is very inspiring for someone who has lost faith in their own lives.

it's not just the lyrics themselves in ancestral chimes but musically there are echoes, nothing derivative, that at least I hear. Very beautiful and paced, like and inhilation and exhalation as you speak of someone you've lost. Haunting, but not depressing. Wistful music maybe, but encouraging because I think the risk of love (for anything or anyone) is the risk of loss, and in "don't you hide, deep down inside" Ado encourages me not to hide from the that risk.

I never heard the whole song, just a short sample. But I have an ear for music. I thought the music similarity.

Song "Never grow so cold" I will introduce "plot" songs live in my head. I respect that quite a frost on the back, now I have a sad mood.. Song "Iona" Again - beautiful music, beautiful words .. I have nothing to say. I guess I correct that this was already the last lyrics, that. Otherwise - I have a new understanding of geography, I never heard of the island of Iona.;D

It is worth every penny. I agree! I bought Ado's CD about 3 or 4 weeks ago and it really is lovely to listen to. BTW...I found another website that stocks Ado's CD. They not only ship items within the UK but also to Europe as well. www.codamusic.co.uk/index.php

I picked up Ado's cd when I was searching for a friends cd. Hate to admit that I listen to Ado's more than my friends!!!
My favourite song on this album is Never Grow So Cold. The lyrics are amazing. I can really visualize the harbour and a woman in a white flowing gown walking across the beach, looking out to sea and longing for her loved one. The story is sad and the violin and harmonica overtone is very haunting. The piano adds that extra element and the guitar that is picked instead of strummed...mmmm...running out of words! I just love the way this whole song is arranged!

In a couple of Ado's songs he made reference to Canada. In "Little did I Know" he says... looking out across the wild Atlantic where my people sailed to Canada This of course peeked my curiosity. I know there are a lot of Scottish here in Canada and they made settlements in particular areas (Cape Breton, Halifax, Fergus). Found this in my search which I thought you might be interested in. isleoflewisdescendants.blogspot.com/2008/04/lewis-settlement.htmlGoderich is a very beautiful little town. The Queen actually called it "Canada's prettiest town" when she visited. It is located on the shores of Lake Huron. Very picturesque. From what I have read about Stornoway and the Isle of Lewis, I can understand why the settlers took to that area! They also have an amazing Celtic Festival there every year in the summer!

The Green Note show was pretty amazing! He started off with "Old Fisherman" and dedicated "Christina" to Amy Winehouse. He sang two new songs that he's written as well as favorites "Seminole Wind" and ""Oh Marianne". Just Ado and his acoustic! Great evening of music!!! Great friends to share it with!

Ado's set was pretty cool, he played a Gaelic ballard halfway through his set which I just loved....

I don't think wild horses could stop this man from songwriting. He sang two news songs he had written and I suspect there are more where that came from!!!
