I read on 27 March 2009 in the Daily Mail newspaper (UK) that Hans has a part in the new version of Clash of the Titans that begins filming next month near London and in Spain.
He plays the part of Ixas, Genna Arterton also stars as Io.

At first I thought you were a few days early for some April Fools joke However Bond girl lands new role in The Clash Of The TitansA former film starred Sir Laurence Olivier Maggie Smith and Claire Bloom and in this one, Liam Neeson was set to be Zeus (until the recent tragic death of his wife- they may recast this) so it's not the cartoon sandal epic I feared on first reading. The report's by Baz Bamigboye, who is a reliable source. Scans from The Daily mail and Empire magazine are at Gemma Arterton OnlineSo, filming from next month.

I loved the original movie, so now I'm kinds of excited to see it. I don't remember a character being named Ixas though. Must be a new one.

I wonder who/if they will replace Liam Neeson with. He's a pretty hard act to follow. Poor guy certainly deserves whatever support he needs.
The industry press is making a bit of another film being made with Henry Cavill (they were originally to shoot in February I guess) that seems to be preceived as a "competitor" because the themes are similiar -- both inspired by "300", but the other film has a larger budget, apparently. Although, "Titans" writer, with 4 Oscar nominations, may totally whip the floor with the first time writers of "War of the Gods"... could be interesting!
But hey, film work is good! You know he'll make something epic of it! Costuming should be interesting!
thanks greendragon and welcome!

Figure Ixas - who it is? He was in the original film (1981) also?

there was no Ixas or Io (Gemma's character). Though I am no expert on the original.
so it is obviously going to be a re-conception as well as a remake!

I saw the film too and a remake sounds great! Just a question: Who is Ixas in history???

That does sound quiet possible.

I saw the film too and a remake sounds great! Just a question: Who is Ixas in history??? If I have the right "Clash of the Titans" in mind, this story isn't per se historical, but rather mythological! Though in the ancient Greek world, mythology was a part of every day life, and it was considered common knowledge, there is no proof that any of it could have been based on reality. It's the same as Homer's "Iliad" (the Trojan war) - it's an ancient story, of which the origin is hard if not impossible to determine. If I'm not mistaken, Clash Of The Titans is based on Perseus legends? It's quite the coincidence, because he was said to be the founder of Mycenae - and I just came back from there! I study ancient history and we had an archaeological excursion all around Greece, Mycenae is one of the sites we visited. Heard lots of Perseus mythology there. For as far as I know, it's mythology. Which is a fancy word for ancient fiction if you ask me And to be truthful; I don't recall any "Ixas" either from mythology, or from the last film. I wonder if that's just news-sources copying the first source that got it wrong. Maybe he's another character? Or maybe this is a newly invented character. Or maybe my memory failing me

Ixas, I was told this weekend, was the actual bidden creator of the storm in the "The Tempest" (though a small role, I personally didn't remember from the play)-- so perhaps in the remake some re-incarnation of that character will have a place, but I'm told it is a small part. Io wasn't in the original either, and Gemma's has a large part in the remake, so we'll see.
