A return to the old Goth-rock of the 70s & 80s!
I saw all three of these bands last Saturday in Chicago at Reggie's Rock Club and was completely blown away. My family and I had actually driven up there (it's a long 5 hour drive when you're bored) for the 69 Eyes, they're gorgeous and burning hot with their power onstage. Highly recommend that you check them out even if you don't bother with the other two, but I wouldn't pass them up either.
The 69 Eyes are amazing goth rockers, a Finnish Goth Rock group: blood, vampires and rock, their accents will leave you wondering what the hell was said but just listening to lead singer Jyrki, dear god, the man looks like the vampire he portrays onstage. All of them are very crowd oriented, they want to interact with you. We've met them, they're very accommodating to their fans and they'll get you whatever they can give you. Chicago was the first time we got to see them, we were right in front and they put on an amazing show. We got two drum sticks and the guitarist was really trying to hit on my aunt, him and the bassist Bazie were changing sides of the stage all night to look down her shirt. We didn't think that was it until it came out later when I asked the promoter from Chicago what they were doing, they had their eyes on my aunt 0.o Weirdness abounds but she's about their age so...
Here is the 69 Eyes new single, Dead Girls are Easy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7t__1uLXyM
Dommin is a dark rock quartet hailing from Los Angeles and they have the combined look of a greaser gang with a bit of rockibilly thrown in there for good measure. The lead singing, Kristopher Dommin, will blow you away with his voice. Their debut album is slated for release next year though they had been an indie band for several years and have an independent album (you can download it, you can't buy it - if you want the link, pm me, I'll send it to you) called Mend your Misery. They are truly bringing back what it means to be dark rockers and it's about d**n time as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't get much of a chance to hang out with these guys at the Chicago show, after they got offstage I was gonna go hang but the 69 Eyes were coming on shortly and I didn't want to loose my place in the pit. I can tell you the lead singer is very helpful. We were in Reggie's in a wheelchair because of my girlfriend's lung issue and we were knocked into the entire band (they were hovering around the merch booth saying hi to people) by people not willing to wait in line but would rather shove past the wheelchair. Kris got his foot run over, which I profusely apologized for (mr. steeltoed shoes didn't feel a d**n thing) told us we could run into them all we wanted, they didn't matter...we got stuck on the rail and we got an escort out, Kris took the chair from me and pushed my gf out of the venue. I went to ask him for a picture but he went back inside real quick, something about it being too cold for his blood. But they're sweet as hell.
The Becoming has more tattoos then an episode of LA Ink but they've got the musical prowess to back it all up. Dustin, Caleb, Kory and...well their drummer happens to be whoever they can get to play, I think...you wouldn't think these guys were anything other than good rockers but straight from the lead singer, they're actually a Christian Rock band. Now before this changes your mind, I hate preachy bands, but after standing in front of these guys there's no preach to them. I found it somewhere and I'm trying to remember the site but Bassist Kory's big comment on it all was that 'they are servants of the one true Lord but being their servants, they know he loves them for who they are, not who they condemn' They're tattooed, pierced, they drink and they smoke, they're 20-something boys but they know what they believe if they can bring even one fan over to their belief then they've gotten somewhere.
I got the chance to meet and talk to Kory, and Dustin and both of them just smiled and hugged me and my girlfriend, Kory's only question to me was if we got a lot of critism for being a lesbian couple. I told him we'd been together 4 years but the way she and I are, if we're in places that aren't gay friendly, we can be best friends instead of being a couple, it kills us but we get to a hotel and we're partners, we can be out and not be. And we've done it before...right now in some places, we've got to adapt. He said it was sad but he could understand how it might be safer sometimes. I was just blown away, they sing about the same things most dark rockers do, death, pain and suffering of the mind, body and soul. Their message isn't overwhelming but it's still hidden in there.
Here's the Becoming's video for I Cry (supposedly their more blatently religious song, I missed it live, I still miss it when I listen to it): www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3wbsCuymbo
Check these guys out, Dommin and the Becoming are relatively small bands with equally small followings but any new fans are always cool.
Sorry this was so long....
