We're coming up to the end of the decade and I thought it might be interesting to discuss our favourite movies of the decade.
It's hard to believe that the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Pirates of the Caribbean were noughties movies they were so huge at the time and now seem so long ago.
I guess the Harry Potter franchise is also a noughties phenomenon - I never got much into those.
I'm going to have to think on it for a bit but I guess for most of us, the noughties might be notable for our discovery of a certain Scottish born actor.
Maybe the next decade will see the rest of the world catch on.

Two movies that come to mind are Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) and 21 Grams, which was absolutely breathtaking. I must admit I never saw any Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I once won in a competition the first prize, a Lord of the Rings DVD box with a lot of extras and gave it away to my brother-in-law. Did I miss something?

I loved LOTR's. I went to the first movie and didn't know it was part of a trilogy. I never cared for Harry Potter. My cousin made me watch the first one and I didn't like it at all.

Best movies for me have to be Easy Virtue, classic Noel Coward comedy what's not to love. And of course Dorian Gray which once again starred Colin Firth and Ben Barnes (my two favourite actors on par with Hans) which I went to the cinema five times to see even when I was on holiday in Scotland! In fact my movie of 2009 has to be Dorian Gray.
Not a big fan of LotR or Harry Potter. Oh and the Twilight and New Moon movies were also great, although I caught onto that craze a little late!

I'm going to have to say the costume drama films were probably among some of my favourite noughty films. Two that immediately spring to mind are Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Dorian Gray with Ben Barnes. There probably are more, but right now, they escape me!
One other film that I liked was a film called Stardust. It was somewhat strange but endearing at the same time!

Ooh I forgot about Stardust, I loved that film. Also made me think of The Duchess mentioning Keira Knightley, that was one amazing film. Not to mention the Sex and the City movie. Oh there's just been too many!

The Duchess was really good. I also loved the film Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

I'd hardly call Easy Virtue one of the great movies of the noughties, but wasn't it fun?
Though we got there late, to the smallest cinema in existence, and had to sit in the front row, practically laying on our backs. Not good with my glasses prescription. But enjoyed it despite that.
Loved Volver and Bad Education and Motor Cycle Diaries too, in the FL category.

Must just be my love for Colin Firth that makes 'Easy Virtue' one of my great movies.
