Is to be made into a film. Has anyone here on the forum read the book? And if yes, is it any good and what can we expect?

I think it depends on how hardcore you are about Jane Austen. If you didn't like, say, Gwyneth Paltrow as EMMA, this will obviously be heresy. But my feeling is that the silly intersection of Zombie fighting and Jane Austen might be a tool to at least brush past the male 11-25 demographic. It's silly if you've read Austen, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If parody is the best form of flattery then Jane should be smiling.

I quite liked Gwyneth Paltrow's portrayal of Emma, and I will admit that I think I am pretty hardcore when it comes to Austens' books. I'm just abit worried about how silly it's going to be.
I've recently read 2 Austen re-writes about Mr Darcy the Vampire, and well, I found them to be really awful. Hence my concern for this.

I was looking through some of the reviews for this book on Amazon UK, and there are mixed reactions and/or opinions about it. Maybe the film will fare better, who knows!

whoopsy... (looks like there are some bumps in the road for P&P&Z)
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a high priority at Lionsgate, but they're having trouble putting it together. In the early days, David O. Russell was set to direct Natalie Portman before both bailed (Portman stayed on as producer). Mike White (Year of the Dog) was hired to replace Russell, but the writer/director has a scheduling conflict with HBO, presumably for his series Enlightened.

The only info I knew about this film is that James McAvoy is possibly being courted about being Mr Darcy for this project.

The trade papers are boring as hell, but every now and then they come in handy.

Trade Papers! I remember them. Here in the UK we have one called The Stage. I used to subscribe to that paper in my teens to see what auditions were be advertised. See, now I have outed myself. I used to have aspirations of being an actress in my younger days.

I think that's pretty cool!! You could've been great! Never too late, if you still wanted to explore it. No one should ever feel sheepish about their dreams and aspirations, I say. Perhaps the fact that you grew up and became a responsible adult and I am still at it makes me immature, really....

Thanks, but I don't think I would have been great as you put it. I soon realised that perhaps acting wasn't my personal calling in (this) life. If I were to get back into it, I think tv/film extra work would be as far as it goes. Theatre work is something I found to be really quite daunting.
Immature is not the word I would have chosen to describe you. Dedicated, yes certainly, but not immature.
