Well I'm not surprised by Leo DiCaprio's nomination, nor by the multiple nominations for Little Miss Sunshine! I like the best actress nominations; my preference goes out to Kate Winslet, but it wouldn't surprise me if Judi Dench or Meryl Streep won. I liked Meryl in The Devil Wears Prada, but to be honest it wouldn't be my pick for the Academy Awards, of all award shows.
I'm a little disappointed that Ask The Dust isn't nominated for anything!

I'm disappointed Volver didn't get one for best foreign language film, and I don't think Penelope Cruise has got a hope against Helen Mirren
Apart from that, it all seems to have gone exactly as most pundits predicted. What is it with all the love for "The Queen"? is it really that good or do folks just love anything to do with Royalty And perfect timing for Mirren eh? what with E1 and E2 coming so close together. You couldn't plan that
What's the opinions on Dreamgirlss? It's been a BO disappontment hasn't it?

I really thought I'd see more of "Volver", but I'm really happy about the three "silver foxes" for best actress -- maybe we're finally growing up culturally!!! How many women over 50 have been overlooked year after year??

Yeah I think so too! Though I think Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet are really good choices as well. I've seen 'best actress' nominations that I didn't agree with in past years, but this year's really good!

I love Kate, I think she is a great great actress also Penelope Cruz. I met her once during a press conference in Spain. I love her in Abre los ojos and Vanilla Sky ;D
