OMG What a shock and what a tragedy.
Esp as he's the home-town boy made good, and my official celebrity 6 degrees of separation ( I knew people he went to school with and his former drama teacher though not well)
And, indirectly, he's responsible for me discovering Hans as I was just getting Still Crazy to make up the seven weekly videos for seven dollars during a Heath retrospective holiday veg out
What a waste of a talent - I'm sure he is one of those actors whose best work was yet to come.

I know! I'm still speechless. The whole thing is just terrible!

It's 8:20 am here in Hungary - it was the first news I read today. I couldn't believe - I thought to ask you if you were more informed...but I got the answer as I entered. What a tragedy! So young, so talented...My brother's 18 years old daughter adores him. Farewell Heath Ledger...

They're doing tributes to him on the local news now, and I'm tearing up. Terrible, terrible thing. It was an accident, it seems, the poor man was having sleeping problems and suffering from pneumonia and it seems that his medications just combined to kill him. Awful.

SO sad. And our media isn't doing tributes so much as jumping on whatever may be (or MAY NOT be) provocative about it at the moment.
The first announcements were: "Heath Ledger, found dead, drug-related"
The second was "Heath Ledger, autoposy, drugs suspected"
today it's "Heath Ledger, accidental overdose of prescription drugs. Last call made from his phone to Mary Kate Olson - a cry for help. Distraught ex flies in -- lets go to video of her being raced out of her car"
finally they're saying, at noon when the maid checked on him he was snoring, but at 3 when his massage therapist tried to wake him he was unresponsive -- called the last number on his cell, 911, and THEN paramedics could not revive him -- OH how the connotations changed. It's just gone from insinuation to insinuation.
It all makes me sad. Jack Nicholson was asked about it (amid flashing lights and screaming, while talking on his cell phone, not seeming to have heard the news before but being told drugs were involved) "I warned him"... oiy. So today the speculation was whether Heath had been having difficulty shaking "the Joker". That's what's all over, here at least, today.
Reports are saying the word "tragic" but what I'm still hearing is a whole lot of insincerity. He left behind a child, and all American media to wanted to talk about was the possibility of drugs, with varying levels of respect. I feel very sorry that his child, his family, has to deal with the negatives of celebrity at a moment so personal and difficult. Not surprised, but sorry.
I think I'd be happier if I could be watching tributes... those will come of course --- by the same reporters who's insinuations were a bit more, well, less "tributory".

I am sorry for his family and friends, and especially for his daughter, who will not know her father. He was only 28. That's terrible.

Heath Ledger was a beautiful man and an extremely talented actor he will be missed. I feel so sorry for his family and most of all his little girl.
