It's good that you enjoyed this Lynette. I'm sure that there will be a czech version when it's official screened. I hope in this tight, Cat. I also hope that my country will buy this series.

The TV version with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley has been advertised quite a bit on the TV. I'm so excited about it because Tom Payne from Waterloo Road is in it. I'm not too keen on the thought of Tom Hardy as Heathcliff, he doesn't seem handsome enough in my opinion. My Grandad said the other day how he thought Hans would make a perfect Heathcliff.

Ahh Grandad had no idea who Hans was until I made him sit and watch practically everything he has been in. Fortunately Grandad loves a good period drama and is now a Hans fan!
I know what you mean about Tom being in for the whole show, he's a really great actor I wish he'd get a lead role in some kind of period drama.

I never knew about Tom Payne until Laura mentioned him. Since then I sometimes catch him in Waterloo Road (series 2 in showing on TV at the moment) and just last evening I stumbled upon him in Miss Marple: They Do It With Mirrors and I absolutely loved him in that! I was interested in this episode in the first place, because "Mr. Darcy" Elliot Cowan is in it. (One can watch it on youtube, the quality is astonishingly good.)
Tom Payne is the young troubled Edgar Lawson and I got the impression, he had great fun playing that role. The scene in the garden, when he's "chipping" the potatoes with his spade and is stammering: "Mr. Churchill has his Black Dog and I have my red mist" is absolutely hilarious.
I watched WH on youtube - thanks for the link cat! - but wasn't that much impressed by it. I think my problem were the two leads. My favourite character was perhaps Hareton, of whom I would have liked to see more.

This is an extremely comprehensive site about Wuthering Heights, it leaves no questions unanswered. I especially liked the pages about the various characters, with Emily Brontë's description of their appearance and pictures of every actor/actress in the numerous existing adaptations. Very useful also is the timeline of WH: Catherine is 15, when Heathcliff leaves Wuthering Heights, Edgar and Heathcliff were only in their late thirties when they die! Ellen is actually only 7 years older than Catherine, and so on. And if you haven`t already read WH, you can download from this site a PDF version of the novel.

Hi did anyone see the itv version of wuthering heights over the bank holiday weekend, it's getting a lot of good reviews here, i was so looking forward to it the adverts looked good, I so love wuthering heights it's my favorite novel, and know it practically word for word when I heard Tom Hardy was being cast as Heathcliff I was so excited I sat down with my choclate's and I watched an hour of it I absolutley hated it I was so disapointed I wanted to cry. It was awful the word adaptation does not mean re write the book there was huge chunks of dialouge said to the wrong characters at the wrong time they put the end of the book at the begining, it was so bad< I love Tom Hardy but not as heathcliff he was to nice, and not at all dark and brooding the only thing I did like was they used yorkshire accents, no one seems to agree with me and thought it was terrific. The ralph finnes and Juliet Binoche version is much better a bit to clean and no yorkshire accents except from Mathew macfadyn as hearton but at least they stuck to the book.

I love Tom Hardy in everthing else he has been in I was so excited when I heard he was going to play heathcliff I thought yes an actor who will portray him well I was dissapointed something for me was just not right, but I was more dissapointed with the whole thing really more than the cast shame Wuthering heights has been done to death anyway I think they should have really spent the money on something else.

I actually really enjoyed the version, in all fairness though it is the first adaptation I have ever watched of the novel so I don't have anything to compare it to. I was not keen on Tom Hardy before this but I have to say I have a new found respect for him now. I was in floods of tears at the end, I just thought it was so moving and sad.
