Apparently there will be no "premiere" for "Half Light" - presumably because Demi Moore is filming and therefore is unavailable. There will however be some special screenings of "Half Light" before the general release on June 23rd. BAFTA Cymru in Cardiff on June 21st. Half Light will open the Fantastic Films Weekend on June 16th in Bradford. There will be a special screening in Anglesey, Wales, at the Ucheldre Centre on June 20th. They will have an outfit worn by Demi and props from the movie on display along with loads of little stuff like call sheets and pictures of how they did the lighthouse. Alan Hughes, whose website Half Light Locations has been such a great promotion for the movie and a great source of information for those of us who've been following the progress of this movie, has done a great deal to organise this evening and will be talking a bit about his site and the tourism it is expected to boost, before the movie. Details here and of course at Alan's site. It's due to Alan's lobbying that the soundtrack to "Half Light" is being released (Through Moviescore Mediain July and his site is widely regarded and referred to as the official site. On behalf of all here at Hans Matheson Online I'd like to thank Alan for all the great work he has done in promoting the movie and keeping me informed, and wish him well in his future endeavours, whether that be tourism or website related

Alan's site has changed its name and location to Half Light Locations.com. He's had a spot of bother with his hosting, so pop on over and check out the new look and new info on his site, and help get his hits up so it registers on Google etc. And now there's a real official site at UIP and what a pathetic attempt. It doesn't even mention Hans! Surely it's still under construction (You have a week UIP) ETA The Official Italian Site is much better www.uip.it/half_light/. There's also a Spanish site movies.filmax.com/enlatiniebla/

Boo *sniff*
So much for seeing Hans at my local megaplex. Although all the major cinema chains in Australia have had "Half Light" advertised on their websites for months, they have obviously chickened out on the basis of poor reviews and attendance in the UK. It's showing at precisely three cinemas in my city and of course none of them are anywhere near me.
Now I have to haul myself across town through the pouring rain (yes, at last) . the things a Hans fan has to go through...

And when your grandchildren hear about it it will be through sleet and snow, 30 below (or the centigrade equivalent) uphill both ways pulled by half-frozen sled dogs...

With a whole eight other audience menbers, I got to see "Half Light" in the cinema. It was kind of cool seeing Hans on the poster outside!
I wasn't very impressed with the quality of the filmstock. Either it was a bad print or the projection equipment was faulty I've seen the DVD so I know it wasn't the camera work etc It was a bit blurry in places and the light levels kept changing One thing that had impressed me on the DVD was the quality of the cinematography so I know it wasn't supposed to be like that.
But there must be something wrong with me. I'm hardly the most objective person here, and I know this is not a great film but even though I've watched it a few times before I was still able to sit through it without getting restless. It was probably the only time I actually watched it right through from beginning to end with fast forwarding through Hans free parts however ;)But it isn't THAT bad. Is it contempt for Demi Moore that caused to critics to be so savage?
The fact that its release was delayed so long and then released without any promotion or publicity speaks to the fact that the production company and cast and everyone had little faith in this. What went wrong? Did they not shoot enough film? Artistic differences? Too many people meddling in the editing? There must be a lot of people disappointed in the outcome I feel for the people in Wales who had such high hopes for the publicity it should have generated.
While I have to agree that it was derivative, cliched and illogical etc etc I don't usually watch those sorts of films anyway so I wan't too fussed there. IMO a big problem is the beginning. I do think the whole movie doesn't start to get interesting until Hans appears on the scene and not just for obvious reasons. I actually feel that the long slow build up gave critics too much time to get into a negative frame of mind and when the action hots up in the second half it's too late - they've already written their review. But a lot of people have said that it was the second half that was the problem. Not that the ending does make sense but --oh well.
Anyway, Hans looked pretty good up there on the screen.

Yay, Hans on the big screen! So, lets do a head count...how many of us now have actually had the privilege of seeing Hans in the theater? Not me.
