WORK got under way yesterday on Demi Moore's new film which is being shot in North Wales.

Trailers descended on parts of scenic Ynys Llanddwyn, on Anglesey, as work began on the Hollywood actress's latest movie Half Light.

Yesterday marked the first day of eight weeks of filming, with two weeks of shooting on Anglesey and further shoots on location in England and at London's Ealing Studios.

Oscar-nominated Demi stars alongside rising British actor Hans Matheson in the psychological romantic thriller.

The production company was yesterday already operating what it called a "strict closed set policy" keeping reporters and photographers at bay.

There was a brief disagreement with local residents early in the day's shooting after they were denied access to a car park. But it was quickly resolved.

Written and directed by Australian Craig Rosenberg, Half Light casts Moore as Rachel Carlson, a successful mystery novelist whose life falls apart when her five-year-old son drowns.

Ynys Llanddwyn will be used for a number of scenes, with its disused lighthouse expected to be key.

Preparatory work on the lighthouse began several weeks ago.

But there are already rifts between the Hollywood filmmakers and the locals. Some villagers claim the island is being desecrated by the high-profile shoot.

People living in nearby Newborough insist strict byelaws designed to protect the island have been lifted for the sake of money.

WOW, that is such good news! This really makes my day, if not several weeks, or months even!

Demi Moore is not one of my favourite actresses though, but ANYTHING with Hans in it is worth watching at ANY time.

Wow, this is huge! You can't get a much bigger star than Demi, although I kind of feel like she's on the back end of that meteoric rise. She's done some duds, of course. But I loved her in Ghost, and I respected the hell out of what she did for GI Jane.
I'm trying to imagine her with Hans, and I'm not quite there yet. I wouldn't exactly call her "chemistry girl". But "romantic psychological thriller", my favorite kind!! All sorts of wonderful "scene chewing" possibilities for our guy, and in what sounds like a gorgeous location!!
So, with a star like Demi in the picture, will we Americans finally get to see Hans on the big screen at the local multiplex?
(Those of us who missed Les Mis and SC and Bodywork. Was BW ever on the big screen in the States?)

Wow, this is really exciting! I almost fell out of my chair in shock when I read the article. I hope this will make it to the big screens in the US. I'm not a big fan of romantic psychological thrillers, but I'll definately be there opening day...

With Demi Moore? BLEH! But, at least it's him, and she does good things with careers, it would seem...Guess you won't have to worry about them dating, he's a bit too old for her (lol). I hope this comes out where I can see it, I'm getting danged tired of having to order everything on DVD after the rest of the world has seen it a bizillion times!

Hans co-starring with Demi Moore in a movie, there's an ideia wich lives me very excited.Not only because Demi Moore is a very good actress(although i don't like some of her work), but also 'cause it will pass in cinema all around the globe- so i hope!!- and we will get to see him in the big picture
Never the less, there's something wich is living me a bit curious : Hans seems a very reserved, shy person, who truly loves his privacy, so how will he stand, better, will he be able to stand all the "media circus" around the movie??(it is quite obvious that a movie wich the leading lady is Demi Moore, will have lots of exposure!!!)

I'm sure Hans will be quite happy to let Demi get all the publicity At this stage it appears to be an independent production so we have yet to see if major distribution companies will be picking it up.

Guess you won't have to worry about them dating, he's a bit too old for her (lol).

Isn't she madly in love with Ashton Kutcher? Is he not about the same age as Hans?

You're right Virgil. Apparently Demi Moore and Ahston Kutcher are so in love that they're going to get married this 26th of september - read it on a Portuguese film magazine wich sources are usually right, but who knows?!!
But Ahston is little bit younger than Hans, he was born on the 7th February 1978.

They only thing I've found in Variety is a little blip among 75 other little blips, in a column that is published daily for the purpose annoucing production, saying Demi Moore had taken the role. Not much buzz as of yet as it isn't a big studio production. Although I did miss out on a month or so this summer while in England. I'll keep my eyes open.

I can't even tell in that picture. Is that Hans in front? It doesn't look like Demi in back. Yeah, the same thought about Hans and publicity occurred to me. Is he resigned to more publicity to further his career? Or did he take it because it's an independent and won't get a lot of circulation?

I agree, it's hard to tell, but it really could be Hans on that horse. As we all know he's pretty good on the horseback. But then again, the picture is in rather poor quality.
I'm so excited about this film! I hope it gets on the big screen here in Sweden, and with Demi Moore in it that may very well happen.
