And Cat I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You can't blame yourself though-it's not like there's a handbook on how to save someone you care about from self-destruction, particularly as often it doesn't feel like self-destruction to them. How do you save someone from self-imposed slavery? You can only do your best, love them, but ultimately it is their own heroism that delivers them day by day.

When I went to school, we were in the cultural house, where he lectured young junkie with dreadlocks on his head. His name was Evžen H. He was of the incomplete family lived only with his mother, she could not give love, care a parent feel... When he was only 8 years old, he sold drugs in Prague, to have money. When he was 12 years old, he began to take drugs. He tried almost all soft and hard drugs. He was completely dependent on them. He cooking pervitin in the kitchen before his mother. She was strange. Evžen had no money, so he began to steal. It was a human wreck. He had the professional treatment. He disposed of their addiction eventually. But with the consequences until the end of his life. He speaks poorly, he has a bad motor movements and still shakes after his body. I was in shock, at that time.. I saw for the first time a former drug addict to my own eyes. I regretted of him very much.

Thank you Laura and Scarredsoul.
Lynette, what you described is constantly associated to people with drug addictions. It's this ever downward spiral into a life of crime to feed their addictions.

All addiction is a terrible thing for the human person. I think the consequences are irreversible, even in cases where the patient is cured.

I agree Lynette, I think that it's one of those things that is so difficult to get over that even when someone does get better it's still there in their lives if that makes any sense. It was one of those things for me where I was completely ignorant when I first watched it, I'd never had any kind of contact with anyone in that situation and it was a real eye opener as far as I was concerned.

Any addiction is a mental disorder, actually. Everyone knows that mental illness is worse than physical illness. Heal the soul is hard, because it is not medicine.

Mmh, a rare film, and I think there is no way I could get this movie in Mexico. Are there any means I could get to watch it? The subject seems very absorbing, and by reading your comments, it is one of the most interesting projects of Hans. "Incredible performance" someone said in a post. So... I die to watch this!

Hi I was watching Sky News today and they where talking of Poor Amy Winehouse's death, and they introduced a man to talk about addiction and I realised it was the director of the promis rehab clinic that was in the film, he was talking about his own addictions and how he was one of the lucky one's and Amy was not, I don't know why but I felt kind of emotional and realised how wonderful this film actually is.

I am absolutely in love with this movie. I have watched it 4 times in a little over a week. I love the story, love the character Jake, and love Hans performance. Beautiful. It's a shame it is not widely released.
