I feel most people take IMDb seriously. The Adms are shorthanded, and at times, that shorthandedness makes things such as updating aggravating. 2 weeks or less-Adding a New Title or New Name (person) -Adding/Correcting Quotes, Trivia, Crazy Credits, Soundtrack -I once added biographies for three authors, which appeared within 1 week random, 1 week to 4+ months-Adding/Correcting Cast & Crew lists, which includes Acting credits and Non-Acting credits -Adding Amazon Sales Link (vhs/dvd) for older titles that finally have a release -Correcting biographical information I never delete information, because even if I think information is totally wrong, I don't know what source the other person used. Ahhh IMDb, I love ya, I hate ya, I can't live with out ya!

oh I delete,... but only on my own page. I'm not sure how the incorrect information got on there, but I know it's wrong, well, because it's me. But I've never messed with anyone else's. Don't get me wrong it's a resource; your credited material is definitely legit, however incomplete -- though the character name might be wrong, anyone on the list is cast, and all the films are legit as well. It could confirm the credibility of a resume or make your face available, but I think its strong suit is its use for fans rather than industry insiders. I may be wrong on that though, I'm not a casting director. But you're right -- those listings are usually pretty incomplete.

Back to topic... PBS now have a webpage up for The Virgin QueenIt's a modest affair compared to the Zhivago effort with only one small pic of Hans.

I just got an email from a friend who has watched all of 'The Virgin Queen,' and this is what she had to say about Hans' role. Cute Hans, naked in the bathtub Hans, hurt Hans, sad Hans, winsome Hans, mis-understood rebel Hans, riding around with a sword Hans... Now I can't wait to see it! Star.

Yes! That summed it up quite well!! I want screen caps! I loved his part! He was so hot! He really does well playing those characters that ride madly through the countryside.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It begins beautifully with the young Earl's face replacing his stepfathers at Elizabeth's first return to court after she loses her beloved (however ambiguious) Robert. He looks mainland European in comparison to his stepfather, but we won't go there just now.
The parallel sets us up for understanding her attraction to Lettice's son, and also her deep need to both treasure him and be suspect of his every motivation. Hans looks Zefferelian nearly, albeit the light is English rather than Tuscan, with the Elizabethan costuming. His character reveals itself full of ambiguity. We are never sure. I have my own ideas about his personality that of course mirrors my own experience, but I'll just leave it with the comment that he is manic-depressive in nature. His mother -- the makeup in the second half is just startling in the grotesque -- amazing! Lettice turns from lovely lady to horrorish harpy -- actually says -- to his FACE -- when denied from court "the best part of you trickled down my leg when you were born" (I'm not sure it was trickled but maybe "ran" or "dripped" but you get it). He is delusional by the end, and devastated. It is marvelous!
Finally in black - don't know what my damage is but as a raven haired person I always thought why the hell isn't he in black more often -- and the costuming is great. He doesn't look "wee" or quaint -- no one does. he is powerful in his misplaced ambition as he is destructive in his damage -- to him self and all around him.
but of course I could be biased.
and yes he looks very wet in the bath, and very wanton as he emerges from it...

There hasn't been a huge response elsewhere but most references to Essex seem to suggest bipolar or personality disorder. Is that a recognised historical fact, the script writer's interpretation of the reasons for his behaviour or Hans /Coky's interpreation of the character?
Other comment has been that they don't 'age' him as they do the other characters. But he wasn't that old at the'end' so not sure why they would have.
Comments generally mixed - accurate/ not accurate, music was great/ hated the music, etc
Of course the inevitable comparisons with the Cate Blanchett movie "Elizabeth" and Glenda Jackson's "Elizabeth R". It will be interesting to see how it goes in the UK with the Helen Mirren version so recent and apparently so well reviewed. I guess it depends on whether you want a history lesson or a jolly good story.
And I totally agree about the weaaring black. Black yes, red no

It will be tough to compare to the Kate Blanchett version, because in my opinion, they were so VERY different!! In details all around. I liked the music. The makeup at the end WAS hideous for Queen Elizabeth and her "rival". The Earl definitely was dealing with some mental trouble. He seemed torn by his own thoughts. I thought he was quite unpredictable. He did look outstanding, and like Gg stated, he did look quite powerful. I had a really tough time understanding just what his thoughts were towards the queen. I have to say, I liked the actress who played Queen Elizabeth. I thought she did a good job demonstrating how a woman can be strong and powerful, and still be vulnerable in private. Too many movies depict characters like this as an all or nothing personality.
Has anyone read any good, true biographies of Queen Elizabeth. She really intrigues me. I'd be interested in finding out the truth of the times (so to speak). It's so hard to tell in movies.

Finally in black - don't know what my damage is but as a raven haired person I always thought why the hell isn't he in black more often Exactly what I thought! When he's in that black outfit with the little silver accents and his hair is long and in his face.... ;D I don't know what I like better, Hans being all powerful and throwing things around in a fit of rage, or Hans laying in a fetal position on a bed and almost crying. The first one makes you think he can do anything, and the second one makes you want to lay down next to him and hold him until you both fall asleep... ;D ;D He's such a talented actor!! ;D
