I watched it! It was amazing, such a sad story, so sad and so unjust the way it ended. Tess had the right to be finally happy after all the awful things that happend to her. So wrong and so sad. Angel shouldn't abandon her at the first place, it was not her fault at all. Basically almost everyone treated her in an unjust way, her mother, the people in her village... So unjust that I still feel really annoyed. Anyway... Hans in omg, so attractive in this movie... And what a talented actor, I mean he can "be" a totally different character in different movies, other actors can't do that, I mean u watch them and it's like they 're the same character with different backgrounds. You need to be talented to make people dislike your character too. Well, Alec certainly had his issues, but still that's not an excuse..... anyway, amazing movie!

Caz, mine too! Lacrimosa, loved your post about the tv version of Tess. It was very enthusiastic! And yes, you simply must read the book too!

I agree about reading the book. I had too long before this incarnation of the film (I rented the Polanski version to compare back then, in Junior High, whatever year). I really enjoyed how Hans portrayed ALEC in a way different than in the book. I always saw ALEC as a kind of mustache swirling villain in the novel, and Hans plays him in a way that seemed more human, and in some ways, a lot more devastating. It's definitely worth reading to see how you would have imagined him.

Unfortunately, I didn't find Tess it in greek, but only in english. Well, I must admit that the vocabulary is sometimes a little difficult for me, but I guess in time I'll read it. Maybe I should see it as a chance to improve my english, why not? I also bought Doctor Zhivago. I had borrowed it before from the library, but didn't finish it. Now that I have spare time and it's mine, I guess it's a chance to enjoy it without anxiety.

Forgive me if I'm going to ask for something you've said/written already. Does anyone know where I can see this movie? I mean.. Is there a site where I can download it? Legally, of course. I would like to watch it before buying the DVD
