I really, really got sad when this morning turned on my computer and discovered that yesterday Pete Postlethwaite had passed away... He made a brief appearance in the film "Clash of the Titans", but I really enjoyed all his performances... I hope he has the peace that does not give the terrible disease he was suffering...

It is sad, but there was a man who truly went with his boots still on. He has two more films coming out this year. Talk about raging against the dying of the light. What a great actor.

It's a very sad new, I watched a lot of his films. I followed his carreer since Romeo + Juliet. Rest in peace.

The Pillars of the Earth is on air starting earlier this week on CBC here in Canada. So far Eddie Redmayne hasn't said a word. They just showed episode 1 on Tuesday. I'm not sure how many episodes there are, but the 2nd episode will be on Tuesday again next week.

In fact, I would go as far as to say it was the best thing to watch on tv last year. For me at least anyway. Are you enjoying it so far Jenny?

Hey Cat - I've only seen the one episode and of course I missed the very end because I didn't set the timer for long enough, but yeah...I am. There are a couple of great Canadian actors in the production as well that I have great respect for. I also I love Rufus Sewell. Don't know why, he's a bit creepy looking, but he has such presence with his performances. I did really enjoy what I saw and am looking forward to the next episode next week. I did find out that our library has it on order, so if I do miss any I have another source. Cheers~

So I was watching the Golden Globe Awards the other night and as I am sitting there with a huge ensemble of people of on stage I recognize someone...Kelly Macdonald from Stella Does Tricks. The show that she is on Boardwalk Empire won for Best Television Series (Drama) She looked amazing in a beautiful gold gown.

AND it's not her first!!! She was nominated for a g g a couple years ago for an HBO film she did with Bill Nighy (name sound familiar?!). She won an Emmy for the same film. She has been steadily prolific in American and UK film since her TRAINSPOTTING and TRICKS days! GO STELLA!!!
