Thanks for the info, Star. Ever the legend. The book is now available and here is the link to the page of the website for overseas buyers - many of you lot! www.thecaledoniankitchen.co.uk/overseas.htmlFor those of you in Scotland, there is also a list of locations where you can buy a copy personally. Here is some further information about Hans' contribution, courtesy of organiser of the book, whose son suffers from the disease. 1. The Hans image is from Half Light. (In fact, I believe it's the one I use as my avatar!) 2. There is also an exclusive family photo showing his grandfather Bill Maclean and his brother Will. It was sent to me by his mother Sheena. 3. The recipe is a fish dish. This is no surprise with his Isle of Lewis roots. 4. There is a description from Hans about why it is his favourite recipe. Hans's is the most personal submission in the book. So, you can see, lots of good reasons to get ourself a copy! I just might pick up my copy - personally, when I'm in Scotland More Information from The Daily RecordThank you for the info, Virgil.

I swear, I may be broke but I am going to go through my bookcase, find books I don't read, sell them to second hand bookstores, and buy this book with the raised money I'm a sucker for fish recipies

So you have to donate £10 to get the book? Just making sure I read that right.

It's a minimum £10 donation, then postage on top of that, depending on where you are in the world.

I gather it's something to do with claimimg the purchase as a tax concession by calling it a donation rather than a purchase. You would have to donate st least the recommended price (suggested donation) to cover costs and have anything at all left to go towards the charity. Of course you'de be welcome to send more and the coast of the book.
Lucky they can do that. In Australia, you're not supposed to claim donations to charities if you got anything in return - a book, a pen, a teddy etc. In practice........... I reckon a lot of Aussies will have big claims on their donation part of the tax forms, judging by the number of people I know who've goven to the Red Cross and th amounts they've given - heaps more than usual.
I'll be interested to see who is the first to have their copy - and who will be the first to cook their Hans dish!

I received my copy in the post this morning, I was so excited! It's hardback and really really well made, mind you, I didn't expect anything less. I'm terrible at cooking, but I'll have a go at some point. Hans' section is so lovely, really personal, like you were told.

Already Laura! That's excellent.
But come on now, you can't leave it at that!
Tell us more. I just took some fish out of the freezer. What' am I cooking for dinner?
Well, probably tomorrow night, I'll be fast asleep (hopefully, I'm a terrible sleeper) by the tme you wake up, let alone get to a computer.

Right:
Grilled brown trout with new potatoes and salad. Everyone elses has ingredients and a method, Hans' has a method and a little paragraph about why it's his favourite dish.
"This simple dish is one of my favourites inspired by fond memories of going fishing on Loch Breugach with my brother Will and our Grandpa Bill Maclean on the Isle of Lewis. These were truly magical days. There is nothing quite like coming home with fresh fish you have caught and Grandma Belle cooking them that same evening served with new potatoes, lettuce and parsley straight from the garden."
It is your avatar picture Virgil. Also Hans' is the only one with a personal picture, the one of his brother and Grandpa.

I tried to buy it with the link provided here for overseas orders, but every time Google Checkout informs me: The Caledonian Kitchen does not ship to my country via Google Checkout. Of course I am reluctant to go on with my registration. I am in Europe, and as they list postage costs to Europe surely this must be a mistake. Everybody else experiencing the same problem?

I haven't tried or ancountered this, but you could try emailing the people organising it - Kenny is very approachable and helpful. I'm sure he can sort something out.

For all those trying to order their copy, I just had the following information from Kenny. Just to let you know, there was a problem with the Google Checkout button for overseas buyers but it is working now.
Previously only UK buyers could purchase but now any country can be selected.
So, you can go ahead and order with confidence.
