Well, now that it's hit town, so has the hysteria.
One of my colleagues gets next week off work "in quarantine" at home just because her adult daughter will return from a cruise to Alaska. Over-reaction much?
How's the hysteria at your place?

WOW!!!
I think that's more of an overreaction than I've heard of anywhere!
No one is really saying anything here anymore. The people who have died all seem to have had pre-existing conditions. They're talking more about the flu shot for next year and how we're all going to have 2... big whoop.
I think I missed the big hysteria here.
I haven't had a tv for, well, apparently it broke while I was abroad, but, from what I've seen at the tv in the trailer at work in the morning, the hysteria must have happened while I was gone. ANd they are all saying -- "Swine Flu, what the CDC wants us to refer to as N1H1"... though it seems swine flu is what everyone is calling it anyway.

Blimey that is a big overreaction. In our area they made a big deal about someone not far from here who had caught it after coming back from holiday from Mexico but she was fine.

In my country is so far only one case of this disease. Since yesterday is a man in quarantine. His condition is better.

My sons school had one case. The child was back to school for a week after being off ill before any of us were notified that it was actually N1H1. Another school in the area just had a diagnosed case yesterday....of course on the day they were having their big fundraiser. I know that a lot of people skipped because of that. Our public health department has been into the infected places and have disinfected everything. However, the paper did say yesterday that the region I live in does have the "highest number of confirmed N1H1 influenza cases per capita" in the province with the majority of cases in my town! Lovely! We will see!

How are things in Mexico Jonathan? Has it slowed down or are the numbers still high?
I've heard also to expect a worse stain of the same N1H1 virus in the fall/winter...or for some of you that would be spring/summer!

My girlfriend currently has some kind of post nasal drip with a cough...a really bad cough, when all the hype about the swine flu hit there were people coming up to us in stores (her in a wheelchair because the breathing was so bad) and either telling her to go home, or else someone actually gave us a handful of those face mask things...it's just disgusting.
Now it seems like it's calmed down, though with my allergies, I sneeze and people look at me funny...my girlfriend will cough and people look at her funny...it's a mess. Still..I saw something that made me laugh....

I know what you mean when you say about people looking at you funny when you sneeze scarredsoul, I suffer from hay fever quite badly and if I sneeze when I'm out it's as if people are thinking 'Oh my God, what has she got?'

I also suffer allergies and hay fever. My former fellow thought that allergy is contagious. We sat together at one desk, and she sat as far from me..

I've heard also to expect a worse stain of the same N1H1 virus in the fall/winter...or for some of you that would be spring/summer! Things are fine. There are not new cases since weeks ago. It is important to know that the virus is not mortal. People died because complications (they went to the hospital very late). It is important to be calm.
