I've just got my copy of ROAE but unfortunately the interview with Hans is not on it. It must only be on the Bluray version, unfortunately not all of us can afford bluray players and bluray discs. If anyone does have the blu ray version is it possible to show the whole interview on here?

I'm not complaining... Definitely NOT complaining. It's so rare we see a glimpse of Hans outside his roles, even interviews are rare, so this is an extra treat. Is it just me or was he the teacher's pet? Outside the pro's he seemed to be featured most. On the other hand, I wasn't really paying much attention to the others....

The difference between the Gym Jones approach to training for 300 and ROAE was that the actors were trained individually for the later, to reflect that the Spartans were a warrior culture whereas the Greeks were more diverse. Aeskylos was in more battles than the other warriors, having fought at Marathon as Themistocle's right hand and conscious, so the actor had more weight/muscle to gain - perhaps that is part of the reason he was featured working one on one. Particularly impressive was Jack O'Connell coming on as a recast, later in the process than the other leads, and making up for time in training so remarkably - and continues with brilliant performances in Starred Up and Unbroken. When asked, Mark talked particularly fondly of Callum Mulvey, who had come into training not sure of his limitations after recovering from a head on collision in 2003, and proved himself brilliantly - going on to major roles in Captain America and Batman v Superman - limitations be d**ned.
