I first saw Hans in this miniseries. It is almost 3 years. Hans I was very interested. Since then, I am interested about his career. This was absolutely the first time I was emperor Nero likable in the tv. He was in reality very cruel. Hans here to play its role very movingly. There were times when I am sorry for Nero.

Hi, I looked in CZ to the first part of yesterday / tv channel ČT2 /. Repetition is the mother of wisdom. ;D Hans amazing as always .. And next week I will look forward to the second part / 28.1., ČT2 /, this is the kick. Crazy Hans - to experience it!!! I found a new image of Nero - under the text, first row, second from left www.ceskatelevize.cz/program/10187713308.html?nzv=Nero%2C+c%EDsa%F8+%F8%EDmsk%FD

is this the first time Nero has aired in the Czech Republic? I think I remember it airing a couple years ago, just after the Italian airing? Am I wrong?
With Dr Zhivago playing repeatedly on Ovation and Tess of course for two weeks on PBS in the US, it has been a bit of a feast here as well! For a refreshing change!

Nice pic I don't think we have a HQ version of the picture with Seneca either. Gg I think it was Spain where Nero and Germany where nero was on TV at about the same time as Italy. Lynette, I fixed your link. Use the little globe in the toolbar to tag the links, it doesn't always default to active link.

TV premiere of Nero was in the CZ already in January 2006. This is a repetition of the cycle of Roman history.

I watched this all in one go. Not sure if it was meant to be watched like that, but my mum and I made an evening of it. Hans' performance was incredible. I love this period in history anyway, so was interested from the word go, but the film just had me so interested, even more than I thought I would be.

I don't remember it being on TV here, although it may have been. I love that scene when his new wife, not Acte, the dark haired one, can't remember her name, has put something in his drink. And they've got everyone round, I just think the little dancing thing he does is priceless.

It was on our local TV only once, around Christmas 2005. Don't know how I managed to miss it, because normally I try to see films and documentaries which cover this period in history, my interest due to the fact, that I had Latin lessons at school from the age of 10 to 18! After reading through the earlier posts I must say how much I enjoyed Gg's and Virgil's synopses: so to the point and with such a great sense of humor. Virgil wrote: Surely this is old news, but the German DVD has only German language soundtrack, so I opted for the US release which has also English subtitles, just in case. But now I'm tempted after I found out, that in the 2 Disk Edition there is a Making of/ Behind the scenes Featurette and a booklet. Maybe if it's cheap on ebay. Anyone who owns it and can say, if it's worth it? Anyone else thinks, the cover of the Italian version is the most beautiful of all the editions? Virgil wrote: Totally missed this one. Off to see it once more.

I only have the US version. I didn't know about the 2 disk version. The Italian cover is really nice. I wished mine looked like that.

OK, please don't hate me... These last days I was wracking my brains, of what Hans' costume, this unflattering "knee-length Hessian bag" as Virgil put it, reminded me. It's Suppenkaspar (Soupy-Kaspar) from Struwwelpeter (Slovenly Peter)! A most unfortunate choice of costume in my opinion. My favorite costume were these wonderful leather leggings worn during the riding lesson; my favorite scene is, when Nero and Acte sit together at night on the hill looking down at Rome, twice I think. The funniest scene for me is, when Nero has this fit of rage on a field after being told he has to marry Octavia, behaving like Rumpelstiltskin and his "poncho" (Gg) flaps over his head. When I first saw it, I thought, oh my God, this was not in the script! After many viewings I still have the feeling, Hans improvised when he threw it off.
