I think what was shown at Berlin was a presentation including some footage - a glorified trailer maybe. Meanwhile, Hans gets his hands on another musical instument! © Jakubisko Films

Picture! Pretty! Ooh!
Ahem.
What they probably showed at Berlin was the pre-edit edit of the film. They'll probably go away and do a bit more editing before releasing it onto the market.

Done, though I'm not sure if anyone besides you goes there BIG NEWS FOR LONDONERS Those living in :London get to chance to attend a preview screening of Bathory
The screening will be in The Courthouse Hotel Kempinski which is at 19-21 Great Marlborough Street , London W1F 7HL (opposite Libertys) - 6.00pm for a 6.30pm screening on 3rd April 2007. Drinks will be served following which we will screen the film.
BATHORY
Countess Erzsebet Bathory is proclaimed mankind's most prolific murderess, accused of horrific crimes in her quest for eternal youth. Was she a persecuted Renaissance healer whose enthusiasm for science spawned rumours of vampirism, or a lonely widow whose passion for life, love and the arts was against her?
Taking inspiration from the controversy, director Juraj Jakubisko's bloody fairytale brings fiction to life, shining fresh light on the dim corners of Bathory's legend, her nemesis Palatine Thurzo (Karel Roden), her would-be lover the famous Italian painter Caravaggio ( Hans Matheson), the local sage Darvulia ( Deana Horvathova), husband Ferenc Nadasdy (Vincent Regan) and ruler King Matthias II (Franco Nero ).
Critically acclaimed, both at home and abroad, Slovak Jakubisko's use of magical realism across four decades in cinema has been compared to Gabriel Garcia Marquez' literary style. A member of the European Film Academy , "Bathory" marks the helmer's 14th feature film and his first English language production.
The film will finish at about 9.00pm after which we will ask you to fill in a questionnaire. We will also ask about 30 people to stay behind for another 30 mins or so to participate in a focus group. Drinks and refreshments will be served.
This is a very small preview, with limited space so to gain tickets please go to: www.seefilmfirst.com and enter the code: 344215
If for any reason you can't make it after you got the tickets, please cancel by contacting icantgo@seefilmfirst.com.

This movie sounds really good. I've always been fascinated with Elizabeth Bathory's story. I hope that it gets released here in the States. Oh to see Hans on the big screen!! That's probably just wishful thinking Has anyone heard of a US theatre or dvd release yet? Halona

This was posted by terrycarter at IMDbI attended. It was a pleasure to complete the L-O-N-G questionnaire afterwards to let the company know what a pile of garbage this is. A film so devoid of any artistic merit, it's little more than a way of relieving Anna Friel of her clothes - and that gets so tiresome. Cheap battle scenes, rubbish visual effects, the lamest script you can imagine. Doesn't even have the conviction to be in the director's native tongue
Do yourselves a favour and avoid this wasted piece of celluloid It doesn't sound very promising but remember, it was a test screening, so it probably wasn't a final cut and there would still be CGI to be done etc. And it is, after all someone's personal opinion.
