Ah, but he had a second wife, though he had to keep her existence a secret to keep his position in the Church In the summer of 1531, the king sent Cranmer to the Holy Roman Empire as England's sole ambassador to the Emperor.[2] Although his task was to obtain the removal of restrictions on English trade, the main benefit of this post for Cranmer was that it put him in contact with German Lutherans. While in Nuremberg, he became acquainted with the Lutheran scholar Andreas Osiander. Both men were convinced that a true reform of the Church was needed, but neither knew what form the new Church should take. They strengthened their bond in an unexpected fashion when Osiander became Cranmer's 'uncle-in-law'. Despite being an ordained Roman Catholic priest – an archdeacon – and thus supposedly celibate, Cranmer secretly married Osiander's niece, Margaret.[4] Cranmer was a widower and this was his second marriage.

Ah ok! I didn't know he had had a secret wife! It could be great to see their story. I wonder how they managed to live in separate countries. Or maybe she came with him in England. I love that kind of secret story. Maybe we can hope they will do something with it in the series.

Foxtel's new channel Showcase, which debuted at the beginning of December in Australia, will be screening the first series of The Tudors early in 2008. OK so there won't be any Hans in Series One but if Series One airs, can Series Two be far behind? The official Showtime Tudors website has been adding some preview videos over the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping that sooner or later there will be a glimpse of our boy. Meanwhile, good old Auntie ABC has been screening a doco "Monarchy" which last week was all about Henry 8th and had a good bit about Thomas Cranmer.

The first series of The Tudors can be also seen in these days on HBO Channel, here in Hungary - hoping the second one will be following soon! After screening on HBO the most films are available on DVD. Hope is the last that dies...

Hear ye! Hear ye! Showtime have a new video Royal Cast of Characters on their official Site. (Actually at the moment it might be an exclusive preview for those of us who've signed up for latest news. It shows quite a bit of Hans as Cranmer including some snippets of interview, and may I say, he looks quite the part. very mature looking. Not that I was ever in doubt of course. Now to figure out how to do screenshots Help, anyone?

At last! At last!! I could hardly wait to see anything about Cranmer. His figure is surely a hot shot in Tudors history - and Hans' appereance is also a hot shot on the screen!

OH I concur -- you are a LEGEND, Starkiller!!! ::blush:: thank you! He sounded so passionate about the role, I really can't wait to see it, now. Although that will probably have to wait until it's released to dvd, as it doesn't look like The Tudors has been or will be shown on Aust tv. Which is odd. I wonder why ABC or SBS didn't pick it up. How strange. Anyway! That scene took me *ages* to get the one cap for - it was such a quick clip and argh! Fiddly!
