I have been informed that Hans is filming in Ireland in the second series of the TV miniseries "The Tudors" about the life of Henry V111, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry. He plays Thomas Cranmer, the Archbishop of Canterbury. "The Tudors" at IMDbAbout Thomas CranmerETA He was executed in 1556, for heresy after Queen Mary reunited the Church of England with the Roman Catholic Church. Again!! Wikipedia entryAt last!

This makes me very happy. Good news after the bad of RL! You should post this on the Hans community on Live Journal.

Have done Did anyone actually see the first series? It sounds like it was a bit 'gratuitous', a bit of fluff. I'm cynical about sequels but I guess it means the first series was a success. But, the Archbishop of Canterbury??? Isn't Hans a bit young for that? I don't see much chances for him to get his gear off there

I saw the first series in a marathon viewing. Moments might make Andrew Davies blush... Compared to all the hoolap Zhivago got for it's "explicitness" this is far more provocative. It's a cable original series and it takes advantage of those freedoms.
He does seem a little young, but you know -- he's Jonathon Reyes Meyers' contemporary, as his characters' of HenryVIII

oh, and I guess I should clarify that it is episodic here -- so it doesn't feel like a sequel so much as a second season... a continuation -- no headless wives yet.

Yeah, poor choice of words there. It is of course a second series and not a sequel. It seems the first series only went as far as Anne Boleyn so of course there's still so much of Henry V111's story still to tell - though whether its of interest to an American audience I wouldn't know.
Has this series even been shown in the UK?
I dunno, Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry seems strange casting to me (not helped by the fact I'm not that keen on him in the first place.)
But....things I've watched for Hans and all that

Oh, American's love lots of steamy looks and tight corsets and intrigue and,... well I'll keep it G-rated, but you get my drift.
I keep wondering, though, when Henry's going to start putting on some weight.

I was wondering, do you think it's sure Hans will play in The Tudors? I mean, that's not official yet. How did the information come out? It's not listed in Hans filmography on IMDb. Don't get me wrong, I just want to be sure. lol I hope it's true, for it seems to be an interesting tv show. But why do we not have anything about it yet?

Don't worry, it's true. Originally I was emailed by someone who worked as an extra in the coronation of Anne Boleyn scene. Since then I have had it confirmed with another very authoritative and trusted source, which I am unable to reveal IMDb hasn't got anything up about Series Two last I checked. I don't think they will till closer to the time. Filming finished on Series Two just last week, though I don't know if Hans was still involved. Since he is playing Thomas Cranmer, a very influential character in the history of Henry and Church of England, I expect it to be a fairly significant role. Promotional pics were taken late September. I guess we'll see something in the new year. I wouldn't expect anything before then. But happy to be proved wrong

Ahh!! I'm relieved!!! Thank you so much. I can't wait for the promotional pics. It's gonna be great to see him as an archbishop. Rather uncommon for an actor to play such a role. I can't wait to see series two. Maybe I should buy the DVD set of series one, not to be too lost. lol. I've heard the DVD will be released next January.

Showtimes Official Tudors website has a preview trailer of next season. As I think Virg mentioned. Hans isn't evident, but there are a lot of clery hanging around, so who knows. www.sho.com/site/tudorsThe promotional pictures are floating around now -- primarily of Jonathon Rhys Meyers and Henry Cavill, easily foudn with an image search Peter O'Toole will be Pope Paul III - interesting parallel, as, if I am right, he was also "Augustus" in the "Imperium" series, I think, in the preceding series to Hans' "Nero". And then of course O'Toole got an Oscar playing Henry II in "The Lion in Winter" -- "of course, he has a knife! We all have knives. It's 1183 and we're all barbarians." Not to be outdone by "I'd hang you up by the nipples but you'd shock the children". Course those are all Eleanor's line, but I don't know Henry's as well. Anyway, curious parallels And not bad company to be keeping, at any rate.

What do we care of preview pictures of JRM? Anyway. apparently, Thomas Cranmer had a secret wife! Let's hope they can work THAT into the script. (My solution as to how they can get a bit of sex and nudity going for the Archbishop of Canterbury. Would they dare?)

Hehe!! ;D Good idea! His wife didn't live long, she died in childbirth, but maybe we'll see her, at least a little bit. *fingers crossed* It would make for pretty interesting scenes.....mmm... ;D Am i the only one to think Hans would have been great in the role of Henry VIII? (I'm not a fan of JRM actually... :
