Och man, nah
Will be firing up the barbie and checking out the fireworks for Australia Day.
And a special mention for Geoffrey Rush (Hans Les Mis co star amongst his many other accomplishments) who today adds Australian of The Year 2012 for services to the Arts to his ither awards - an Oscar, a Tony and and an Emmy amongst others. Now all he needs is a Grammy.

Ground Hog day... No I'm not joking. A rodent in Pennsylvania crawls out of his hole and if he sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of Winter. He saw his shadow. Who came up with this ritual I have no idea....

Who came up with this ritual I have no idea.... In Hungary it's almost the same custom with the bear, if he sees his shadow, he goes back into the cave to sleep until the real spring. On this day reports can be read in the news from the zoo paying attention at the bear's behaviour.

Where is Valentine's Day not a "day"? Originally it's not a special day in Hungary, but as many other things eg. Halloween it seemed to be a good business and a kind of fashion to celebrate. Although it's an important day for me. My younger son is called Bálint - it is the Hungarian version for Valentine and we celebrate his nameday on 14th February.

Fat Tuesday past, with it's pardon of all things decadent, and with it Carnivale,... anyone sacrificing anything for Lent? Sugar? Alcohol? Red meat? TV? voyeurism, opportunism, objectification, obsession?

This year I'm giving up sloth. let's see how that works out. And I had my pancakes today so I obviously haven't been successful at giving up procrastination - I'll do that later.
