I still did not watch this movie. But I read the synopsis. I know that Hans interprets the personage "Tomas". I would like to know who is Tomas in the movie? What he makes? In my opinion, I think that is the movie where Hans is most beautiful.

Tomas is the stable boy In the book he is Dina's childhood friend - in fact Dina spends the time after her mother's death, when she is mute and uncontrollable, being raised by Tomas's family. When Dina marries, she shocks everyone by insisting Tomas has to help her with the wild black stallion that is Jacob's gift to her. Ther go off riding etc when she should be being more ladylike and learning to be the mistress of the house etc. Basically Dina keeps Tomas waiting in the background, turns to him for comfort in times of need, ie the funeral , when it seems like Leo the Russian isn't coming when he said he would. In the movie it isn't as well developed - Tomas always hopes that Dina will return his love etc. And then of course there is the child - I think in the book it's a lot more ambiguous as to who the father is, but it's really important in the follow up book Dina's Son ( no kidding!) Has anyone read the third book in the trilogy? - I'm curious to know what happens with Benjamin Not sure it's even been translated into English....

Many Thanks Virgil!
I read in a synopsis that the personage "Dina" she is sufficiently complex. She is a full person of traumas. Poor person Tomas, I imagine that it suffers sufficiently in the film.

I finally got the opportunity to watch this movie over the weekend. I'm not sure exactly how to comment on it. I didn't like the story, didn't feel much sympathy toward the characters and thought it was too long (!). I do, however, wish I had a stable.

Enjoy! Pretty amazing movie, though somehow, "nice" is not the word I'd choose. It's far too edgy. You must leave a review when you've seen it!

I can ride a horse! I have a horse! She's such a sweetie!! I love her! If you want to know any more about horses feel free to IM me on AIM @ sonicfrost or Yahoo at sonicfrost03 I have been trying to decide if I want to buy this movie, but I don't know. I wasn't going to, but now that I read that horses are part of the storyline, I just might buy it! LOL How big is Hans's role in this film? Hans and horses, what more could you want? LOL

Hans' role in the film isn't terribly large. Support. He is the stable boy so he is generally with a horse -- or in a stable. It's a pretty complex film as the "heroine" is a bit - um - hmmm - ambigious... I'm not sure sweet is any way any one would describe her -- but I have a feeling you're refering to someone else! Visually it's pretty amazing! But Tomas in the book is a much more developed character.

That's cool, I've been riding horses for 7 years now, and I still love it..I don't have a horse myself because my parents think it's too expensive ..but well..hans and horses is really sexy ;D *giggle* Anyway I was a little dissapointed about hans' role. I expected to be bigger..but well..the few sentences he says are nice I think the role fits him quite well..once again I thought while watching the film:omg!! he's such a talented actor Although I thought the story was a little confusing. Dina who's acting weird all the time. I liked it that I never knew how she would react on the things that people said to her or that just happend. Some one here said that in the book Dina went to Tomas when the Russian guy didnt came or when she was feeling down/confused. I could see that back in the film but I couldnt see that Tomas was hoping all the time for his love to be answered by her. At the end I noticed that he had enough of it (the scene where Dina hits him (omg how could she hit him!!!she hits him even 2 times!! )) But still I liked it but I didt have the feeling that I would watch this film when I feel like "Yeah let's watch a nice film" because it wasnt a very happy ending or so..but well..I feel like everything I just said was a little confusing

I loved this movie and i loved the dina character as well. My absolute favorite scene is when jacob wants to sleep with her for the first time and she runs up that ladder and shouts: "you're like a stallion you are! (or something) i don't know why but i find it kinda funny ;D

Hmm... I watched it yesterday, and to be honest, it freaked me out. Sure it's a good, complex story... but gosh! Very dramatic...

I watched this movie for the first time back in 2002 or 2003 I believe and was highly confused by it. At first I didn't like it, except for Hans's part of course , but I gave it a second chance last week and now it was a totally different experience. This time around I could really dwell into the story more and appreciate the movie and I absolutely loved it now. It's such a beautiful piece of work - very dramatic, deep, dark and different, but I love it. I bought the Swedish-released DVD yesterday and it had a few special features on it, like behind the scenes stuff - some footage with Hans. Very good

hans part was so small, they should have had more scenes with him then it would have been allot better.......

Agreed - it's definitely not one of my favourite films, although it does have the bonus of both Christopher Eccleston and Hans in it, but generally I fast forward until I hit the scenes with them. Though I have to say, the landscape is gorgeous, all those mountains and the lakes! Lovely!
