No problem Brooke. :-) I watch all these films again and again. But with the sad ones I always sit there hoping that the ending just might change, especially on Canone Inverso, I always burst into tears when I hear David say "I've got to give him his violin." :-(

I just watched this again with my girl, 4. Its funny a kid can love this movie so much, especially Hans and the music. We are both learning the instrument and my child could point out that the music "did not seem to come out of his violin" especially when there is certain vibrato and his fingering is not right. But still Hans was convincing enough for the role of Jeno and I could see the musician in him throughout the film.

That is so adorable frenchpianism, it is kind of obvious about the violin but I do agree he was very convincing, it wasn't enough to ruin the movie at all.

www.hansmatheson.org/canone/cicapsgallery.htmlThere are now 200 wonderful clear and large screen captures in the Canone Inverso gallery. Thanks again to Brooke and to our new streamlined processes, we can get them to you so much quicker and easier. I got it all uploaded late last night and fell cross-eyed into bed, so I hope everything is OK. Apologies - I did blur out some detail in a couple of the pictures - not sure how much it violates my host's "terms of agreement" or if they would even notice but I decided to play it on the safe side. If you do want the unedited version, just PM Brooke or me. You know the pics I refer to of course, don't you . I'm surprised someone hasn't already commented (let me just check my PM and emails - nope, not yet) And while we are on the subject, I think the above quote - It is "pants" as I hear it - is a reference to the fact that Jeno is circumcised. Hence the washcloth!

My second or third favourite film(N1 and 2/3 are The Red Violin and The Perfume).Absolutely fascinating! The Music of Ennio Morricone is the jewel of the film, the colour is perfect, and the plot is uniquly and 'unsoapingly' touching. The performance of Matheson is so true and naturally beautiful, just like everything else in the film, and are the other actors(among which is the Great Gabriel Burns). Now that you mention it, I have suddenly realized it IS my second favourite film

Anyone notice when he waits in the rain to get into Sophie's room and plays for her, he is dripping wet and I believe see beads of water on the violin.....Heck that would've never happened to a real violinist, water on the instrument is NOT a good thing .......

In each film there is some inaccuracy. But this scene was sweet, romantic .. I love it.

seriously -- my roommate gets her instrument (a viola) an airline seat for itself. She went to China last year and I volunteered to take the viola's alloted "overhead compartment" space so I could go with her.
